Birmingham v Wolves Match Prediction

Draw at 13/5 Paddy Power

Birmingham v Wolves Best Bet

Draw and under 2.5 goals at 10/3 – Betfred

Birmingham v Wolves Past Meetings

Their last head-to-head was at Molineaux last season. Birmingham scored two goals in five first-half minutes, but Paul Robinson’s sending off after the break gifted Wolves a way back into the game. Nouha Dicko pulled a goal back with 20 to play, but the away side held onto the win.

In the reverse fixture, Birmingham again shot into a first-half lead, but three second-half Wolves goals completed an impressive comeback, with the home side’s Jack Storer getting sent off after conceding the second.

Birmingham v Wolves Villa Stats

The team playing at home has won this clash on only two of the last 11 head-to-heads.

Over 2.5 goals has happened in four of the last 12 meetings.

Jeremie Boga’s stunner at Sheffield United last week was the first goal of his senior career in England.

Wolves’ Leo Bonatini has found the net on more occasions (11) than the Blues have in the Championship this season (10).

Birmingham v Wolves Team News

Wolves’ Ruben Neves was booked in Saturday’s 5-1 home win over Bolton, taking his season’s caution tally to five. He’ll therefore miss Monday’s match.

For Birmingham, David Davis, Stephen Gleeson, Jason Lowe and Craig Gardner are all back working with the main squad. Carl Jenkinson is also back in training having recovered from the dislocated shoulder.

Reason for Birmingham v Wolves Bets

Wolverhampton Wanderers go into this game as Championship league leaders, despite playing a game less than all their rivals. Fierce west Midlands rivals Birmingham meanwhile are struggling at the other end of the table.

In form Wolves made it five straight wins last weekend as they thumped Bolton 5-1. Their best run of successive victories in modern times is nine straight League One wins when they won promotion in 2014.

Nuno’s men are top scorers in the Championship with 40 goals in 19 matches, making them one of only two sides in the entire EFL to top 40 goals. Interestingly though, Wolves have failed to win three of their last seven on the road, losing 2-1 to relegation strugglers QPR and being held to a goalless draw at Brentford.

Whilst City are currently in a relegation battle, they’re in better spirits following an impressive win over Forest and a 1-1 draw with high-flying Sheffield United last weekend. They’re also unbeaten in five games against top-six sides this term, beating Cardiff and Bristol City at St Andrews.

This could be a trickier fixture for Wolves than the table suggests therefore, so there’s good value backing a draw at 13/5 with Paddy Power. Birmingham have kept a clean sheet in four of their last five matches at home, whilst Wolves’ John Ruddy has kept nine clean sheets in 19 games, conceding only 17 goals. Only second-placed Cardiff have conceded fewer. For that reason, back a draw and under 2.5 goals at 10/3 with Betfred.
