Bristol City v Wolves Past Meetings

This will be the 27th meeting between these two sides, with Wolves superior in the head-to-head record with 16 wins compared to City’s 5.

The last time the two sides met saw the two sides cancel each other out in a thrilling 3-3 draw at Molineaux back in December.

The last meeting at Ashton Gate was in April last season, with the home side winning 3-1 but prior to that clash, Wolves had won six of the previous seven meetings against the Robins.

Bristol City v Wolves Stats

Wolves have scored more goals (45) than any other Championship side this season, with Bristol City joint second on this list alongside Sheffield United.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have the strongest defensive record in the division (19 goals conceded) and are one of only five teams to have a better defensive record than City.

The visitors are unbeaten in their last ten matches, winning eight of those – the best form in the division.

City have lost only one of their last 13 matches in all competitions – including a famous League Cup victory over Manchester United.

Indeed, Lee Johnson’s side have beaten more top flight sides this season (4) than West Bromwich Albion and Swansea City.

The visitors have the best away record in the division yet Bristol City boost only the fifth best home record overall.

Bristol City v Wolves Team News

Neither side has any fresh suspension worries.

Jamie Paterson is a worry for the home side after coming off injured in the Boxing Day victory over Reading with Lloyd Kelly – a late substitute – pushing for a start after scoring in that match. City are likely to stick with their 4-4-2 formation.

Wolves are likely to stick with the 3-4-3 formation with Matt Doherty and Barry Douglas operating as wing-backs. Alfred N’Diaye and Leo Bonatini will both be hopeful of forcing their way into the starting line-up.

Reason for Bristol City v Wolves Bets

What a way to end draw Championship football to a close in 2017 with the top two, both in-form, going head-to-head at Ashton Gate.

Both sides enter this clash on long unbeaten runs and between them, they’ve lost only six league games from 48 – and you wouldn’t bet against losing out this time.

A draw is the sensible outcome due to the strong form of both and whilst Wolves may have an edge in quality, that should be cancelled out by not possessing home advantage.

Both sides are likely to settle for a point and will see it as one gained rather than two lost in their respective promotion pushes.

These clubs are the top two scoring sides in the division and this is another game in which we should expect goals.

City have scored two or more goals in six of their last seven games while Wolves are the top scorers in the division.
