Wolves v Sheffield United Past Meetings

This will be the 77th competitive fixture between the two clubs, with Wolves ahead on the head-to-head record with 27 wins compared to United’s 23.

The Blades won the meeting between the two earlier in the season at Bramall Lane 2-0 thanks to a double from striker Leon Clarke. Wolves defender Conor Coady had been handed an early red card.

That was United’s first win in six in this particular fixture and their last victory at Molineaux came over 15 years ago – in October 2002.

Wolves v Sheffield United Stats

Wolves lead the table by 11 points and have the best scoring record, goals against record, home record and away record.

United lie 7th in the table, just outside of the playoffs, yet only have the 11th strongest away record having collected just 20 points from 14 games on the road.

However, the Blades have won four of their last five games after winning just once in nine, while Wolves have one just once in their last four games in all competitions.

Wolves v Sheffield United Team News

Wolves are expected to continue to deploy their 3-4-3 formation with Leo Bonatini attempting to win his place back in the front three ahead of either Helder Costa or Ivan Cavaleiro.

United will continue with their 3-5-2 line-up which is headed by James Wilson and Leon Clarke.

Reason for Wolves v Sheffield United Bets

Wolves are heavy favourites to win the match due to their position in the league table yet they are out-of-sorts recently and face one of the best sides in the division.

United’s late midweek defeat to Aston Villa ended a four-game winning run yet they are still well-placed to make a late push for the playoffs.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have had the jitters in recent weeks with an FA Cup coupled with just scoring once in their last three league games combined.

Coupled with the fact United have let just two goals in throughout their past five league games suggests that not only will this be tight, but that it will be low on goals.

United themselves have just six goals from their last seven outings and despite their being plenty of attacking talent on the pitch – none of the strikers are in-form.

A point would represent a decent day for the visitors while Wolves will be content that they will still have a healthy lead at the top having negotiated another tricky opponent.
