Cheltenham Festival 2018 Information

As March begins to approach it is all about the Cheltenham Festival for racing fans.

The top connections and horses descend on Prestbury Park for four days of incredible racing action. With Prize money now reaching £4,590,000 it is no surprise it is such a targeted event. This means there is now over £1 million up for grabs on each of the four days.

The key race of the meeting is of course the Cheltenham Gold Cup and this year will be no different. The race has also received a timely bonus increase of £50,000 which means the horses are contesting for record prize money of £625,000.

This year’s race looks to have an open look to it with a very competitive field lining up. The latest Cheltenham 2018 Betfair odds has last year’s winner Sizing John as the current 5/1 second favourite. He will be looking to follow in the footsteps of the greats in Golden Miller, Arkle and Best Mate in following up their triumph in the race the following year.

His key challenger at this stage looks to be Might Bite following his dominant display in the King George on Boxing Day.

Might Bite is possibly the most exciting horse in training but comes with his quirks as displayed at last year’s festival. He is the current 3/1 market leader.

Another key challenge looks to be the returning Coney Island. He missed the festival last year and has gone under the radar but following an eye catching comeback run at Ascot is one to note.
