Yeovil v Manchester United Past Meetings

This will be the only the second competitive fixture between the two clubs, with United winning the only previous encounter – 2-0 at Huish Park, three years ago.

Ander Herrera and Angel Di Maria scored the goals for Louis Van Gaal’s side in that FA Cup Third Round meeting.

That season saw Yeovil play in League One, where they would finish the season bottom as they were relegated to the fourth tier.

Yeovil v Manchester United Stats

Yeovil sit fourth from bottom in League Two and only two places above the relegation zone.

Darren Way’s side are without a league win in four and have only won twice in the league in their last 12 attempts.

They have reached this stage following victories over Southend United, Port Vale and Bradford City.

Despite sitting 21st in the league, Yeovil’s home record is the 15th strongest in the division with 19 points from 15 matches at Huish Park.

Jose Mourinho’s United advanced into the Fourth Round after a 2-0 victory over Derby County – Jesse Lingard and Romelu Lukaku grabbing the goals.

United last won the competition in 2016 – their 12th FA Cup triumph and only one short of rivals Arsenal, who have won the trophy a record 13 times.

The Red Devils have kept five clean sheets in a row in all competitions.

Yeovil v Manchester United Team News

Yeovil are expected to stick with their standard 4-4-2 formation, although midfielder Otis Khan will miss out through suspension following his dismissal against Chesterfield.

United will be without Daley Blind (muscle), Zlatan Ibrahimovic (knee), Eric Bailly (ankle) and Michael Carrick (heart condition) and are likely to field fringe players for the match, such as Sergio Romero.

Reason for Yeovil v Manchester United Bets

Manchester United will be overwhelming favourites to progress through this stage, with 87 league places separating the two clubs.

The FA Cup may hold priority for the Red Devils this year with the League Cup gone and a Premier League title appearing unlikely, trailing Manchester City by 12 points.

Whilst Mourinho’s side have not conceded a goal in their last five games, they are likely to field a much-changed backline and give David De Gea a rest for this fixture.

Goals should be expected in this game – Yeovil have the second worst defence in League 2 (conceding 50) yet have scored seven goals more (38) than Coventry – who are in the playoff places.

Furthermore, they are unlikely to sit too deep due to holding home advantage and an early goal for the visitors could open the floodgates – over 3.5 goals is highly likely.
