Burton Albion v Leeds United Past Meetings

This will be the second meeting between the two clubs this season, with the Brewers hoping to an extract an element of revenge after a heavy 5-0 defeat at Elland Road back in November.

Pierre-Michel Lasogga netted twice for the Yorkshire side in that match, with Kalvin Phillips and Kemar Roofe also on the scoresheet and Pablo Hernandez netting from the spot.

Leeds have only ever made one competitive visit to Burton Albion, and that came earlier this year – a 2-1 loss with Marvin Sordell and Michael Kightly scoring for the hosts before Kyle Bartley’s late consolation goal.

Burton Albion v Leeds United Stats

Burton Albion have the worst home record in the division, winning only seven points from their 11 home fixtures to date.

This record is even worse than Sunderland – who’s first home victory in the calendar year came last week – with Burton losing eight matches and shipping 25 goals while they have lost all of their last seven matches at the Pirelli Stadium.

By contrast, only league leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers (8) have won more games on the road than Leeds United (6).

Lots of goals come in the Yorkshire side’s away fixtures, with Thomas Christiansen’s men netting 18 goals in their 11 matches on the road but conceding 17 at the other end.

Burton’s recent win at Bolton Wanderers was only their second victory in their last 15 matches, while Leeds have won four of their last six matches having lost seven of the eight going into that run.

Burton Albion v Leeds United Team News

Neither side has any fresh injury or suspension worries.

The hosts are likely to continue to deploy their 4-2-3-1 formation with Marvin Sordell – who scored in this fixture last season – leading the line.

Leeds will match up with their 4-2-3-1 formation, with Kemar Roofe – who netted against Burton earlier this season – likely to be supported in attack by Ezgjan Alioski, Samuel Saiz and Pawel Cibicki.

Reason for Burton Albion v Leeds United Bets

Burton’s home form is beyond wretched, with seven consecutive defeats they have the worst current home form in professional football in England.

By contrast, Leeds look like they have refound their form and unlike Burton, have a deep squad which they can rotate and navigate their way through the Christmas period with more ease.

It is hard to look beyond a win for Christiansen’s side in this fixture as they continue their push back into the playoff spots in the division.

With 35 goals in their 11 away matches to date, the chances of their being over 3.5 goals are higher than the bookmakers odds of 11/4 suggest.

Only Bolton (41) have conceded more goals than Burton (40) in the division.
