USA to win by 1-3pts at 13/5 (3.60) with bet365

The biggest sporting rivalry across the globe continues this week. Betting on the Ryder Cup sees just two teams from the United States and Europe battle it out for ultimate supremacy and bragging rights in a competition that first began, way back in 1927.

The tournament is played over three days and alternates between the two continents on a bi-annual basis. There are a total of twenty-eight matches played, with players split into pairings, until the final day, where each player plays individually against each other. All matches are worth one point, with a drawn match giving a half point apiece.

If a team reaches the magic 14.5 points mark, they will win the trophy. If the event ends at 14-14, the current holders then retain the title.

Each team is lead by a captain, who does not play, with Davis Love III (USA) and Darren Clarke (Europe) picking the order of play and pairings.

The United States have won twenty-five of the forty times the event has been played, but Europe have had the ascendancy in recent times, winning the last three meetings. This year the event is being held at the Hazeltine National GC in Minnesota and the United States are seen as favourites to win the trophy.

Looking at the two sides, the Americans look stronger, with 2016 Major winners Dustin Johnson and Jimmy Walker in the team. Phil Mickelson and Jordan Spieth are also standout names to watch of the twelve members. The European team have their own 2016 Major winner in Danny Willett, while Rory McIlroy and Henrik Stenson are rated in the world’s top ten golfers and will look to lead the charge, but the USA have the edge on experience of this event.

Overall, an intense couple of day’s play is expected, with plenty of great skill on show and partisan crowds giving their all. This year looks to be the year that the United States finally wrestles the Ryder Cup back from the Europeans.
