England v Brazil Past Meetings

The teams last met in a pair of friendlies in 2013, with England winning 2-1 at Wembley and the sides drawing 2-2 in the return in Rio de Janeiro.

In total, they have met 25 times since their first meeting in 1956, with Brazil taking 11 wins to England’s four.

England v Brazil Stats

Brazil have scored in 86% of their away games since Tite took charge, whilst England have scored in 86% of their home game since they were knocked out of Euro 2016.

England have picked up just one victory in their last 10 international matches against Brazil – winning 2-1 at Wembley in February 2013 under Roy Hodgson.

Both sides have found the net in eight of the last 10 clashes in all competitions.

England v Brazil Team News

Phil Jones is almost certain to miss out for England after limping off against Germany with a thigh injury. Michael Keane could come into defence to replace him. Dominic Solanke, Lewis Cook and Angus Gunn have also been drafted into the squad.

Philippe Coutinho could start for the visitors, with Ederson also expected to feature. Casemiro and Fernandinho played the full 90 minutes so may be rested.

Reason for England v Brazil Bets

As far as international friendlies go, it doesn’t get more glamorous for England fans than a matchup with Brazil. The Samba stars are known for their attacking flair, with the likes of Neymar, Gabriel Jesus and Coutinho all in contention to start against the Three Lions.

It could have been an interesting test for Gareth Southgate’s side ahead of next summer’s tournament, but with a number of high profile players out injured, it’s unlikely to be anywhere near the same starting XI that will line up for their World Cup 2018 opener.

That being said, with England’s next friendly not until March 2018, it offers a great opportunity for some of the fringe players to push their way into Southgate’s plans. They’ll look to build on their sturdy performance against the Germans, but face a tough test in the South Americans.

Tite’s Selecao are more established in their plans and tactics, and whilst there could be some rotation, it’s unlikely to alter their game plan. They defeated Japan 3-1 in their last friendly, playing some eye-catching one touch football, and they should offer more of an attacking threat than England’s last opponents Germany, who for all their intricate passing aren’t as direct as the Brazilians.

The visitor’s attacking intent coupled with Southgate’s makeshift line-up points to an away win. Back it to happen at 8/11 with Bet365. England have a decent scoring record at Wembley, but they fired a blank against Germany, showcasing their lack of depth up top. For that reason, don’t back both teams to score at 11/10 with Paddy Power.
