Reason for Blackpool v Luton Bets

The League Two end-of-season lottery commences with an intriguing clash between Blackpool and Luton Town. The Hatters finished the season seven points ahead of Sunday’s rivals, having taken six points off the Tangerines during the campaign.

However, much is being made of Luton’s play-off curse – they’ve failed in their last four quests, three of those since the turn of the millennium. Nevertheless, Hatters’ manager Nathan Jones has a decent play-off record himself, winning two of his three attempts as a player. The one he lost just so happened to be against the Tangerines back in 2007.

The Lancashire-based club – mired by off-field matters- are looking to bounce back to League One at the first attempt. Their on-field success has been a welcome distraction, with the players converting Bloomfield Road into quite a fortress. They’ve lost just one of their last 12 league games there, and only five teams picked up more points than them on home turf this season.

Bowyer’s side, meanwhile, are the form team going into the play-offs. They’re currently on a seven-game unbeaten streak and have scored nine goals in their last three matches. Even more impressive, perhaps, is doing so without top-scorer Danny Hylton. He’s missed the last two games, but should start on Sunday.

Sunday’s match, therefore, pits two sides who are notoriously difficult to beat. Only champions Doncaster have lost fewer matches on home soil than Blackpool, while no team has lost fewer away games than Luton. For that reason, back a hard-fought draw at 12/5 with Paddy Power. These are also two of the sturdiest defences in the league, so back under 2.5 goals at 4/5 with Bet365, or go one better and get a draw and under 2.5 goals at 10/3 with Bet365.
