Crewe Team News

Leyton Orient Team News

Top-scorer Paul McCallum could return to the starting XI after coming off the bench in Monday’s win over Hartlepool. Tom Parkes also returns from a three-game suspension. Myles Judd and Nigel Atangana remain doubts.

Reason for Crewe v Leyton Orient Bets

Orient ended a seven-game winless run on Monday to keep their slim survival hopes alive. They remain seven points adrift of safety, with just three games to play. Their opponents, Crewe, are seven points above the relegation places, so a win is of paramount importance for both teams.

The Alex have now gone four games without tasting victory. Their last home match was a thrilling draw with mid-table Notts County – a game in which the home side twice had to fight back from behind. Former Orient striker Chris Dagnall scored his ninth goal in 10 games in that match.

The London club meanwhile are now two games unbeaten – they haven’t gone three league games unbeaten throughout the whole season. They finished last season just outside the play-offs, but have clearly been affected this year by issues beyond their control – Monday’s win was played out to protests from the home crowd.

The unfavourable atmosphere at the Matchroom Stadium could have something to do with the O’s poor form there. They’ve had more success on their travels this year, but have still conceded 13 goals on the road in their last four games. The Cheshire club meanwhile have only won one of their last five games at Earle Street.

Despite clinging onto safety, there are palpable problems at Orient – on an off the field. Given their goal difference, anything less than a win will all but condemn them to relegation. That seems the most likely outcome on Saturday, especially given that a victory would ensure the home side’s place in League Two next season. Back a home win at 8/11 with William Hill. With everything to play for and both sides being involved in some high-scoring games recently, back a Crewe win and over 2.5 goals at 7/4 with Bet365.
