Portsmouth v Yeovil Past Meetings

There have been three draws in the last four head-to-heads. The reverse fixture ended 0-0 back in December, but the main talking point was the atrocious fog which engulfed Huish Park.

Portsmouth v Yeovil Stats

Portsmouth have won 11 home league matches from a possible 19 this season, while over 2.5 goals has happened in 53% of those.

Yeovil have won three of 19 away matches in the league, while over 2.5 goals has happened in 42% of those.

Portsmouth Team News

Noel Hunt will miss the match after dislocating his shoulder in last week’s victory over Hartlepool. Curtis Main and Jack Whatmough are expected to miss the match.

Yeovil Team News

Bournemouth loanee Ben Whitfield will miss the match through suspension after seeing red last week. Alex Lawless, Nathan Smith and Darren Ward are also likely to miss the match through injury, but Otis Khan should return from an ankle injury.

Reason for Portsmouth v Yeovil Bets

Portsmouth took another major step forward towards automatic promotion last week with a comfortable win over relegation battlers Hartlepool. They’re now six points clear of fourth place Stevenage with just six games to play.

They’ll view the match against Yeovil as another great opportunity to consolidate their place in the top three. Pompey have won five of their last six league matches, scoring 14 in the process and keeping four clean sheets. They clearly want to secure their place in England’s third tier as quickly as possible, something evident from their recent purposeful displays.

Saturday’s rivals meanwhile have won just one of their last 12 matches and linger 10 points above the bottom two. Whilst they needn’t worry too much currently about relegation, they’ll be keen to keep a safe distance from the bottom two. Where they’ve particularly struggled this season is away from home. In fact, on away form alone they’d be hovering just a point above the relegation zone.

Taking into account each side’s form, a home win looks nailed on. There may not be much value, but it can be backed at 4/9 with William Hill. Whilst the Glovers have been involved in a few high-scoring matches recently, they’re still the second lowest scorers in the league. They could struggle to make their mark on a confident Pompey side who have conceded in just two of their last six games. For that reason, back Pompey to win to nil at 21/20 with William Hill.
