Recommended Bets:

  • Gary Anderson to beat Phil Taylor 4/5 Betfred

  • Under 32.5 180’s scored on the night 9/10 bet365

  • James Wade (+3.5 legs) to beat Michael van Gerwen 11/10 Coral

We may be in danger of sounding like a broken record but if something is not broken, don’t fix it.  And that’s the case with the sum-total of 180’s scored on each and every night of the Premier League Darts 2017.  So far four nights of action have seen a sum-total of 29, 29, 32 and 24 180’s scored.

Therein Thursday night’s line of under/over 33.5 looks amazingly high.  In fact, with last week’s games including four 6-6 draws there were a total of 58 legs played which represents far more darts played than usual.  This makes the total of just 24 180-maximums all the more noteworthy.

10/11 is available on the 33.5 180’s line at bet365.  It is definitely the place to shop as other firms, such as BetVictor, have set their bar at 32.5.

Tough at the top

As last week’s raft of drawn matches underline, there’s not a great deal between any of the ten 2017 Premier League Darts players.  Remarkably three players currently top the league table:  Michael van Gerwen, Phil Taylor and James Wade and there record is an uninspiring two wins and two draws from four games played.

Even more of a surprise is Gary Anderson’s record.  The Scot remains second favourite to win the competition despite him enjoying just one win (two draws and a loss) from his four matches to date.

However, Gary Anderson won a Player’s Championship title at the weekend defeating Peter Wright 6-1 in the final of the £10,000-to-the-winner competition and he accounted for another Premier League player, Jelle Klaasen 6-2 in the semi-final.

This should have done his confidence no harm and given his 2017 Premier League Darts stats outshine Thursday’s opponent, Phil Taylor, comprehensively (3-dart average of 101.4 vs 95.2 and a 47.0% check-out percentage vs 41.2%) he looks a great bet at 4/5 (Betfred) to chalk up his second win of the Premier League Darts season.

Wade +3.5 looks a handicap snip

Given James Wade and Michael van Gerwen (‘MVG’) have an identical record in the competition to date it is surprising they are making the Dutch World Champion a 1/4 poke in their match.  MVG does have the better stats and, obviously, overall record. But this darts match is surely not that black-and-white.

Wade has won at least six legs in all of his Premier League matches so far and surely he is going to take at least four off MVG.  That sets the handicap mark at 3.5 and that scenario is a whopping 11/10 with Coral which looks fantastic value.
