Arsenal v Man United Past Meetings

This will be the 185th competitive fixture between the two clubs, with United ahead on head-to-head victories with 78 wins to Arsenal’s 62.

However, the Gunners have won each of the last two fixtures at this stadium with a 2-0 victory in May following a 3-0 triumph the previous season.

Those were the only two times in the past 12 league meetings between the two which have been won by Arsene Wenger’s side, along with a 2-1 FA Cup triumph in 2015.

Goals from Granit Xhaka and Danny Welbeck won the tie at the Emirates last season, with Oliver Giroud’s last minute header rescuing a point at Old Trafford in a 1-1 draw.

Arsenal v Man United Stats

Manchester United (32) are second highest goalscorers in the division while Arsenal (28) are joint third with Liverpool.

United (8 goals conceded) have the best defensive record in the league and have kept the most clean sheets (7).

Arsenal’s defensive record is the seventh best in the league, having conceded 16 goals.

The Gunners have won all seven home league games this season and have won their past 12 in the league stretching back to April earlier this season.

United only have the sixth best away record in the league with just three wins from their seven matches to date – losing two in that run.

Arsenal v Man United Team News

Arsenal will be without striker Alexandre Lacazette (groin) who went off injured in Wednesday’s win over Huddersfield with long-term absentee Santi Cazorla (plantaris) the only other player unavailable.

United have major doubts over Nemanja Matic (muscular) and Marouane Fellaini (knee) but Eric Bailly (groin) may be available for selection. Phil Jones (thigh) and Michael Carrick (heart condition) are definitely ruled out.

Reason for Arsenal v Man United Bets

Both these sides are in-form with each winning all three of their league matches since the international break.

The return of Paul Pogba to Manchester United has been influential and Tuesday night’s victory at Watford was one of their best performances of the campaign.

For Arsenal, they showed resilience to beat Burnley before blowing away Huddersfield, although having 24 hours fewer rest for this fixture will not be ideal.

United have the stronger side although home advantage in these fixtures is notable – there have only been two away wins in 12 fixtures between last season’s top six this campaign.

A draw is the most likely outcome based on current form and the context of the match itself.

It is also a game where we should not expect lots of goals, Lacazette’s absence for Arsenal is key while under Jose Mourinho, United’s stall for these games is often reserved.

A scoreless draw or 1-1 result are the most likely outcomes, with under 2.5 goals taking these both into account alongside a narrow victory for either side.

There has only been more than three goals in this fixture once in the last 12 meetings and only twice in the last 16.
