Burnley v Arsenal Past Meetings

Both meetings last season were decided by 90th-minute winners, with the match at the Emirates one of the most dramatic of the season.

A second-half Shkodran Mustafi goal put the Gunners in the lead, but Granit Xhaka’s sending off seven minutes later opened up the game. Andre Gray thought he’d rescued a point with a stoppage time penalty, only for the Gunners to go up the other end and win their own, allowing Alexis Sanchez to casually chip in for the win.

The reverse fixture was a much more low key affair over 90 minutes, but a late Laurent Koscielny goal still ensured the London club went home with three points.

Burnley v Arsenal Stats

The Gunners have won their last six meetings in all competitions against the Clarets, including the last two at Turf Moor in the Premier League by a 1-0 scoreline.

Burnley have won just one of their last 13 meetings with Arsenal in all competitions (D3 L9), winning 2-0 in a League Cup tie at Turf Moor in December 2008.

Turf Moor has only seen seven goals in six Premier League matches this season – fewer than any other stadium in the competition.

Burnley v Arsenal Team News

Chris Wood is available after missing last weekend’s win against Swansea due to fatigue. Tom Heaton, Dean Marney and Jon Walters miss out with injuries.

Arsenal will recall a host of first-teamers having made 11 changes for Thursday’s Europa League defeat at Cologne. Danny Welbeck is in contention to start despite coming off at half-time in Germany.

Reason for Burnley v Arsenal Bets

Arsenal travel to Turf Moor with hopes of extending their dominant winning run over Burnley. The Gunners were worthy winners over heated rivals Tottenham last weekend, outplaying them and showing the grit and determination supposedly lacking in previous weeks. They’ll need to show the same levels of commitment against the Clarets – a side synonymous with hard-work that have excelled so far this campaign.

The two teams actually start the weekend level on 22 points, and whilst Arsene Wenger may be disappointed with that tally, opposition boss Sean Dyche will be over the moon. The London club’s victory over Spurs was undoubtedly impressive, but earlier losses to teams they might’ve expected to have beaten highlights their inconsistency. The Lancashire-based club meanwhile have won their last three games, having previously beaten Chelsea and drawn at both Liverpool and Spurs so far this season.

At home, Burnley have won three, drawn two, and lost one of their six matches, keeping a clean sheet in four of those games. The Gunners meanwhile have won just one away league game this season, losing against Stoke, Liverpool, Watford and Manchester City in the process. They haven’t scored in three of six away days.

Nevertheless, if the visitors can weather Burnley’s inevitable early storm, then their quality should eventually shine through. Back the away side to continue their winning run against Burnley at 8/15 with Paddy Power. Turf Moor has seen fewer goals than any other stadium in the Premier League this season, and not a single match has ended with three or more goals scored. For that reason, coupled with Arsenal’s lack of goals away from home, means that under 2.5 goals is a good bet at 11/10 with Betfred.
