Premier League

Chelsea v Manchester United Past Meetings

Marcus Rashford and Ander Herrera gave United a 2-0 win in their last league head-to-head at Old Trafford.

In the reverse fixture last season, the Blues won 4-0 with Pedro netting within the first minute.

Conte’s side also won 1-0 in the FA Cup at the Bridge thanks to a rare N’Golo Kante goal and Herrera’s sending off.

Chelsea v Manchester United Stats

United have won just one of their last 13 against Chelsea in all competitions.

Both teams to score (BTTS) has happened in three of the last 11 head-to-heads in all competitions.

Lukaku v Morata

Romelu Lukaku has had a hand in 10 goals in the Premier League this season (seven goals, three assists), a joint-high along with Sergio Aguero.

Alvaro Morata has been involved in nine goals in his nine Premier League games this season (six goals, three assists).

Chelsea v Manchester United Team News

N’Golo Kante could make a timely return to the starting XI having recovered from his thigh injury. Victor Moses remains out for Antonio Conte.

Jose Mourinho meanwhile has no new injury worries. He could be tempted to start Anthony Martial given his continued form off the bench.

Reason for Chelsea v Manchester United Bets

Each Premier League team has their own style of football, but of the sides fighting for the title, Manchester United probably most resemble Sunday’s rivals Chelsea. Rather than a clash of styles, it normally makes these matches fascinating spectacles, as both sides known for their combative styles taking blows at each other.

Jose Mourinho’s history at Chelsea heightens their rivalry, whilst Nemanja Matic and Romelu Lukaku’s decisions to join the Red Devils also adds extra spice. The Belgian in particular will be desperate to get on the scoresheet, having apparently come close to re-joining the champions over the summer, before a last-minute change of heart.

The Blues are edging themselves back into the title race thanks to two wins on the trot, although they struggled past Bournemouth last weekend. Whilst they don’t look as threatening as last season, their ability to pick up the points will be pleasing for Conte after a difficult spell.

United recorded an impressive victory over Tottenham last weekend, stemming their opponent’s attacking threat in typical Mourinho fashion, before dealing a late sucker punch. Their loss against Huddersfield was quickly forgotten.

It’s difficult to bet against Chelsea at the Bridge, especially given their recent dominance there over United. However, Mourinho’s side look equally as unlikely to drop points at the moment. Back a draw at 11/5 with William Hill. Lukaku scored 11 goals in his first 10 games, but none in his last five, causing his manager to come to his defence this week. The circumstances suggest this could be the game he breaks his duck. Back the Belgian striker as an anytime scorer at 13/10 with Bet365.
