Crystal Palace v Chelsea Past Meetings

Palace have only won three of their past 20 encounters with Chelsea, in a run stretching back to 1990.

Only one of those three victories has come at Selhurst Park, when a John Terry own goal in March 2014 gave the Eagles a rare home victory over Chelsea.

Palace have managed to win the last two meetings at Stamford Bridge including the fixture back in April, when goals from Wilfried Zaha and Christian Benteke gave the visitors a victory under Sam Allardyce.

Chelsea have only conceded on two occasions on their last eight trips to Selhurst Park.

Crystal Palace v Chelsea Stats

Crystal Palace (17) have the worst defensive record in the division and are the only side yet to score.

No other club in the top nine tiers of English football has lost every league match so far this season without scoring.

In fact, Palace have lost 11 of their last 12 league matches without scoring in a run where they have had three permanent managers in place.

Chelsea have both the fifth best attacking and defensive records in the league (12 scored, 6 conceded).

The Blues have won their last five league away matches in a run stretching back to April, scoring 12 times and conceding just twice.

Crystal Palace v Chelsea Team News

The hosts will be without Ruben Loftus-Cheek (thigh), Christian Benteke (knee) and Connor Wickham (ACL knee) but are hopeful of returns for Scott Dann (knock) and Wilfried Zaha (knee).

Alvaro Morata (hamstring) is out for Chelsea while N’Golo Kante (hamstring) is also a major doubt after injury on international duty. Danny Drinkwater (calf) may be able to make the matchday squad.

Reason for Crystal Palace v Chelsea Bets

Roy Hodgson has been unable to stop the rot of results he inherited from predecessor Frank De Boer at Selhurst Park, losing his opening three matches without scoring.

The champions are in town and their best performances have come away from Stamford Bridge this season, and coupled with their excellent record at Selhurst Park, they will once again be heavy favourites.

Palace’s recent defeats against both Manchester sides were overwhelming and Antonio Conte’s side are on a par, so there is no let up.

Benteke is usually the home side’s attacking focal point and will be sorely missed, and there is little to indicate his side will be able to find the net in his absence.

It is now much more a question of mentality and psychology for the hosts than actual ability, and it’s hard to look past the champions for Saturday’s derby clash.
