Huddersfield v Manchester United Past Meetings

The last meeting between the two clubs in Yorkshire resulted in a 3-0 victory for the visitors in October 1971.

Huddersfield’s last win of any kind against the Red Devils was in 1952 – 55 years ago.

The two have had no meetings in the last four and a half decades due to the Terriers spell outside of the top flight.

Huddersfield v Manchester United Stats

Outside of the bottom two clubs in the league, Huddersfield have the joint worst goalscoring attacking record in the league with only 5 goals in 9 outings.

Since the opening day, the Terriers have scored only twice in 8 league matches and have only one home league win from four outings to date.

Manchester United (2) have the best defensive record in the league and have kept the most clean sheets (7 from 8 games) while stretching back to May, they have 9 clean sheets from 10 league games.

Jose Mourinho’s side have the league’s second best attack (21 goals).

Huddersfield v Manchester United Team News

David Wagner’s team are without Philip Billing (ankle), Michael Hefele (Achilles), Kasey Palmer (hamstring) and Jon Stankovic (ACL). They will give late fitness tests to Colin Quaner (calf) and Steve Mounie (heel).

United have somewhat of an injury crisis with Marouane Fellaini (knee ligaments), Michael Carrick (calf) Paul Pogba (hamstring), Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Marcos Rojo (both knee ACL) all on the sidelines.

Reason for Huddersfield v Manchester United Bets

The hosts are without a win in seven in all competitions after winning their opening two games of the league campaign.

Those seven matches have seen just one goal with ten conceded – a run which on Saturday will have stretched to nine weeks.

United by contrast have blown away inferior opposition this season with ease – they have already scored four goals or more on six separate occasions, while at the other end are rock solid.

A win for Mourinho’s side is almost the safest outcome of any individual game this weekend due to the form and resources available to both, with the host’s main hope coming in the fast the vistors have an away match in Lisbon only three days previously.

Anthony Martial has already found the net five times this season and when on the pitch, is the designated penalty taker.

Huddersfield will naturally come out of their shell, due to holding home advantage, and the Frenchman’s pace and trickery will prove a huge threat.

Regardless of whether he starts or comes from the bench, he could expose a defence which can be sluggish and leaden-footed at this level.
