Liverpool v Burney Past Meetings

These two sides have met 71 times competitively in their history, with Liverpool winning 31 times (43.7%), Burnley 22 (31%) with 18 draws (25.3%).

Burnley have lost their last four trips to Anfield, a ground which they haven’t won at since a 1-0 victory in September 1974.

Last season’s fixtures were well balanced – Sean Dyche’s men stunned the Reds with an early 2-0 victory at Turf Moor, before Liverpool won the return fixture 2-1.

The game at Anfield saw the visitors take the lead through Ashley Barnes strike in the seventh minute before the home side came back with goals from Georginio Wijnaldum and Emre Can.

Liverpool v Burnley Stats

Only West Ham (10) have conceded more goals than Liverpool (8) so far in the Premier League.

Each of the last three meetings between the sides have ended in home wins, with the hosts scoring twice in those matches.

All four of Burnley’s points to date have come on the road – a home defeat to West Brom sandwiched between a remarkable opening day victory at Chelsea and late point won at Tottenham.

Indeed, Sean Dyche’s side have already picked up as many victories on the road this season as they did in the entirety of the last campaign.

Burnley have only two cleans sheet in their last ten league outings, dating back to April.

Going into the game, the Clarets have a better goal difference (+1) than the hosts (0) after the first four games.

Liverpool v Burnley Team News

Liverpool will be without Sadio Mane (suspended), Danny Ings (knee), Adam Lallana (thigh), Adam Bodgan (knee) and Nathaniel Clyne (back).

Daniel Sturridge is likely to start up front alongside Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah, who is likely to recover despite a midweek illness.

Burnley will be without midfielder Dean Marney (ACL) although Jeff Hendrick (thigh) could return for the game.

Tom Heaton (shoulder) is also set to miss out, while new striker Nakhi Wells (ankle) may not be available to make his debut.

Reasons for Liverpool v Burnley Bets

Jurgen Klopp has only lost four home league matches since his appointment in October 2015 and his side already have won six points from six at Anfield this season.

Burnley will be a stubborn opposition – their superb opening day win at Chelsea was followed by a hard-earned point against Tottenham at Wembley.

However, Dyche’s men only won once on the road last season and away form is a problem for them, in stark contrast to their formidable record at Turf Moor.

Injury concerns over Tom Heaton could prove decisive and whilst Sadio Mane’s suspension is a blow for the hosts, they have no shortage of strength in depth in attack.

The visitors are likely to sit deep and restrict the home side’s pace in attack and blunt their creativity as much as possible, whilst showing little attacking intent themselves.

This game could follow a similar pattern to Liverpool’s narrow 1-0 home win over Crystal Palace earlier in the campaign, where the hosts are frustrated by a stubborn opponent until finally breaching the defence.
