F1 Betting Tips – Singapore Grand Prix

  • 15 or 16 Total Finishers at 13/8 (2.63) bet365

Daniel Ricciardo’s Red Bull can outshine Mercedes at Singapore’s Floodlit Marina Bay Street Circuit

Only twice in the past 29 F1 Grand Prix races has a car other than a Mercedes or Ferrari been the first to see the chequered flag.  On both occasions it has been the Red Bull of Daniel Ricciardo.

The Australian driver may not have the machinery required to win regularly but he clearly has the pace and consistency to bring the best out of his car in every race, particularly at the lower speed circuits where the inference is on cornering and ‘high downforce’.

In addition to finishing on the podium in six of the last nine races, including a race win in Baku, Ricciardo has finished on the podium in the last three Singapore Grand Prix and three of the last four races in Monaco which is a very similar type of circuit.

Given these performance pointers and understanding Mercedes had their worst race of the 2015 season in Singapore (when qualifying just fifth and sixth) allied to a Monaco 2017 yielding no silverware, the Australian driver gets our vote this race weekend.

Three from Three Singapore Poles?

In fact, in addition to taking William Hill’s 8/1 about the race victory, we also recommend a few pennies on Ricciardo taking the ‘fastest lap’ of the race. The 28-year-old has nine fastest lap’s on his 122 race CV, one came last week in Italy and, more importantly, he has topped the time sheets here in Singapore in both 2015 and last year, 2016.

Four from Five Means 15 or 16

F1 odds of 13/8 is available with bet365 about 15 or 16 finishers.  The stats overwhelmingly indicate there will be a good number of non-finishers at this tricky circuit.  In fact four of the last five races here have seen four or five cars fail to be classified.  With 20 cars starting out on Sunday you have to like the price on offer with the Stoke-based firm.
