2021 Cheltenham Festival Betting Tips
The November meeting at Cheltenham took place two weeks ago, along with some highly revealing action at Haydock, Ascot and Naas this past weekend. Now is a good time to get involved with some 2021 Cheltenham Festival betting action and grab that all important early value.
Already, we have seen several clues to the major Cheltenham Festival action in March, but we start our ante-post betting insights with a novice chase at Kempton which took place on Monday…
Shishkin shadowing the great Sprinter Sacre
Supreme Novices’ Hurdle winner Shishkin made his chasing debut at Kempton on Monday and passed the first test with flying colours. The Nicky Henderson trained youngster showed incredible class and scope and quickened beautifully between the final two fences.

You can back Shishkin for the Arkle at Cheltenham now at a top price of 7/4 with bet365*. There is plenty of water to go under the bridge, but there’s a pretty good chance this top class prospect will go off at odds-on.
So if you fancy some doubles and trebles ante-post, or even a more confident single bet, now could be the time to lock in the value.
Runner-Up Clan does King George chances no harm
The Betfair Chase on Saturday wasn’t as revealing for March as one would hope, but runner-up Clan Des Obeaux put the finishing touches on his King George prep with a super run in second place behind the evergreen Bristol De Mai.
Paul Nicholls’ eight-year-old travelled and jumped brilliantly throughout the Haydock contest, which was staged on ground which was far from ideal.
A return to Kempton on Boxing Day can see Clan Des Obeaux complete a famous three-timer in the race, for which he is best odds 5/2 with bet365*. That price is more than fair.
Minella Indo looking more Gold Cup worthy with every start
Henry De Bromhead’s Minella Indo is growing into a horse looking more and more like a Gold Cup winner in the making.
He’s hit the ground running with two impressive wins so far this season, including at Navan on Saturday, where he produced a spring-heeled jump at the last to put his chief rival firmly to the sword.
Bigger tests lie ahead, but 8/1 with bet365* for the Cheltenham Gold Cup in March is beginning to look a bit tempting. We know he loves Cheltenham, and his preparation couldn’t be going better so far. Next up is likely to be Savills Chase over Christmas, though he could wait until the Dublin Racing Festival in the new year.
He will need to keep refining his skills to beat Al Boum Photo in March, but the remarkably consistent gelding is certainly heading in the right direction.
