Belfast Premier League Darts Tips & Predictions
In a break from tradition the second phase of Premier League Darts action, which features eight players for the next seven weeks, will see matches played out as a ‘Best of 14’ format. This should see less draws played out. So far we have seen a draw in eight of the nine nights of action. Read on for our Belfast Premier League Darts tips and predictions…
Night Ten – Thursday April 4th – The SSE Arena, Belfast
- Mensur Suljovic v James Wade
- Michael Smith v Peter Wright
- Rob Cross v Daryl Gurney
- Michael van Gerwen v Gerwyn Price
Mensur Suljovic v James Wade (7.15pm)
James Wade is flying high in the 2019 Unibet Premier League. He’s in third position and has some strong PL darts stats (one of just two players with a tournament three-dart average in excess of 100) and he is a confidently expected to record more 180’s than Mensur Suljovic in the opening match of the night.
Belfast Premier League Darts Tips: Wade to record most match 180’s at Betfair’s industry top-price of 13/10
Michael Smith v Peter Wright (8.15pm)
Neither Peter Wright of Michael Smith have excelled in the 2019 Premier League Darts. Both have been inconsistent and below their best (sitting and seventh and eighth in the standings) which means this could be a complete comedy of errors.
In a best of 12 format game a draw would be very attractive. But as this is ‘best of 14’ leg confrontation the best play would seem to be this being an ‘over 13.5 leg game’.
Belfast Premier League Darts Tips: Wright vs Smith to feature 13.5+ legs – 6/5 at bet365*
Rob Cross v Daryl Gurney (9.15pm)
Rob Cross has been exceptional in the 2019 Premier League Darts but Thursday’s opponent will have enormous support from his home audience.
He is, of course, Daryl Gurney who will be full of confidence after winning the German Darts Championship at the weekend. Not only did the Northern Irishman win that title he also beat Rob Cross 6-2 in the third round of the event.
Given this result Rob Cross surely looks too short at Unibet’s 19/20 to win this match and the recommendation is Gurney at 11/8 in the ‘draw no bet’ market.

Michael van Gerwen v Gerwyn Price (10.15pm)
It’s considered foolish to oppose Michael van Gerwen at any time but he does not always win. He’s had two defeats in this competition and he lost to Keegan Brown in his first match at the weekend’s German Darts Championship.
But as Gerwyn Price has never beaten MVG in 15 attempts it’s hard to predict him causing an upset. He can, however, claim the highest checkout of the match. MVG’s not been checking out in this competition with extravagance and his ‘highest checkout’ amongst all Premier League players is actually the lowest – does that make sense? Anyway, while it is hard to see Price winning more than five legs in the match, it’s quite possible he can nail the highest checkout combination.
