Bookmakers not awake to Perez fast track pace
The Formula 1 motor racing teams have been on their holidays for a month, so it seems have the bookmaker’s odds compilers and they have clearly returned more than a little rusty with a heap of mistakes within their F1 betting odds on this weekend’s action from Spa Francorchamps. Scroll on to find where we think the value lies with our Belgium Grand Prix betting tips…
Belgium Grand Prix Betting Tips / Preview
The outstanding F1 Belgium betting odds mistake we spotted and therefore the subsequent main F1 bet for Spa has to be Sergio Perez to finish within the top-10, AKA a ‘points finish’.
Bet 1: Go Go Sergio!
His Racing Point F1 car has been disappointing so far this season but its best results have all come at fast tracks and few are faster than Spa, home of the Belgian Grand Prix. It will relish the long straight and flat-out sections this circuit offers and the last time it encountered similar was Baku at the start of the season when Perez qualified fifth and finished sixth. You can get excellent F1 betting odds of 11/4 (3.75) with several online bookmakers including William Hill, BetVictor and Boylesports.

Bet 2: Go high on finishing line
Betway Sports are going 5/4 about ‘Over 17.5 Classified Finishers‘ and that looks very generous Belgian Grand Prix betting odds too.
Removing the rain hit German Grand Prix, 2019’s F1 results show eight of the remaining 11 2019 F1 races had at least 18 finishers. Indeed modern day F1 cars are very reliable and the current crop of drivers rarely collide with one another.
Bet 3: Lewis in and on pole
Beforehand, during Saturday’s qualifying session, Lewis Hamilton is a standout proposition for the pole position bet. His Mercedes team has taken the last four poles at this venue with the Brit responsible for four of them.
The massive favourite for the Driver’s Championship title can be backed at 2/1 (3.00) to be the fastest qualifier. Given he’s 6/5 (2.20) in the same market with bet365* you can taste the value.
Bet 4: Charlie a fast lap boy
The fastest lap odds for the Belgian GP has the drivers in the top three teams clear in the betting. Since an additional point for a ‘fastest lap’ was introduced at the start of 2019 only a Mercedes, Ferrari or Red Bull driver has claimed the accolade all season. That’s unlikely to change for the remainder of the year but it is also unlikely a Red Bull driver will top the time sheets this Sunday, their car is simply not fast enough on these fast tracks (it excels on the slower ones with more corners and curves).
Our fancy here is Charles Leclerc, who went fastest in Baku and Bahrain, in the belief he will be sat in fourth position clear of the fifth placed car (probably a Red Bull) at the very end of the race. This will allow him to take a late pit-stop without fear of losing his position and fit fresh tyres – something that is normally vital for claiming a fastest lap.
