Jorge Linares to win by decision at 6/4 Coral
Anthony Crolla’s rematch with WBA lightweight world champion Jorge Linares will take place at Manchester Arena this weekend on a well stacked and high quality card which is going to be shown live on Sky Sports 1 on Saturday night.
The tough and classy hometown fighter Crolla, 30 year old, lost his WBA belt to the silky Venezuelan Linares, a year older than Crolla, on points in a cracking twelve round bout of boxing at the same venue in September.
Linares is odds on to win and 8/15 with Betfair to win a decision victory which all things considered – in particular their latest meeting – is a sensible looking boxing bet to have from a gambling point of view.
It was the Manchester fighter’s second defence of the title he won by beating Darleys Perez in November of 2015 but despite having lots of success, Jorge Linares displayed superior footwork, which allowed him to find his jab a lot more often, which also will have stood to him on the judges scorecards.
“I see Jorge as the best lightweight in the world and I want to be the best lightweight in the world,” said Crolla when the fight was announced. “I came up short on the night against the better man – with improvements, I believe I can change the result this time around.”
Anthony Crolla certainly has the fight IQ to implement some changes to his game plan as he suggests, but that may not be enough. Jorge Linares, if he shows up in the same form, is the superior boxer of the pair and can win comfortably on the scorecards.
For those of you who think Crolla can get the job done this time, be sure to take advantage of this 12/1 offer (normal price 6/4) when you sign up to the Betfair Sportsbook
Irish star Katie Taylor turns out quickly again and will have the attention of all at the Manchester Arena for her bout against tough competitor Milena Koleva.
One of the finest amateur boxers of her generation, Taylor is looking really promising so far under Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom banner and despite being too short to have a bet on, she is very much a name to watch.
