On Saturday evening, one of the most anticipated fights of the last few years takes place at the O2 Arena, as David Haye and Tony Bellew battle it out in a heavyweight contest.
David Haye v Tony Bellew Boxing Tip
David Haye to win in the 4th Round at 7/1 (8.00) Paddy Power
The war of words has been getting ever fractious and when the pair met for their first head to head public meeting, blows were traded before security stepped in.
David Haye goes into the fight as strong odds-on favourite to win the bout, with the Londoner and former World Heavyweight champion the bigger puncher of the two. Haye beat the previously undefeated Arnold Gjergjaj inside two rounds back in May of last years and has looked very good since returning from a self-imposed retirement.
Tony Bellew, the current WBC World Cruiserweight champion is a general 4/1 with bookmakers to win the bout, with the Liverpudlian winning his last eight bouts, including a strong performance against BJ Flores, in which he ended the fight in three rounds.
Tony Bellew isn’t as big a finisher as Haye, with the lifelong Everton supporter knocking out thirty percent less opponents than David Haye, but his stamina is without question, having boxed some seventy plus rounds more than the Londoner.
Tony Bellew will have to wear David Haye down over a period of rounds I suspect, with the constant threat of a big knock-out punch from Haye, too big a threat to ignore. If the fight descends into a “street fight”, I can only see Haye getting any benefit from such a battle.
Despite his undoubted class as a boxer, this looks to be a step too far for Tony Bellew, with David Haye’s power, likely to be the difference between the two fighters.
