REASON FOR HOFFENHEIM VS BORUSSIA DORTMUND BETTING TIPS
Following RB Leipzig’s shock 1-0 defeat at bottom-of-the-table Ingolstadt last weekend, Hoffenheim are the one remaining unbeaten team in the Bundesliga this season.
Whereas Hoffenheim, currently 4th in the table, have exceeded all expectations this season to date, it would be fair to say that Dortmund have been a little disappointing. They are only a point worse off than Hoffenheim, but they are down in 6th spot and already eight points adrift of Bayern Munich, for whom they were expected to be the closest title challengers.
It’s no great surprise that Dortmund are favourites for this game, but it does seem to be somewhat surprising that they are odds-on, given both the fact that Hoffenheim have yet to taste defeat and that, in addition to their inconsistency this season, Dortmund go into the game with a number of injuries and walking wounded.
Both teams come into this match on the back of draws last weekend, with Hoffenheim being held goalless away to Eintracht Frankfurt and Dortmund earning a 1-1 draw at Köln, with Marco Reus securing a point with a last-minute equaliser. Both were perfectly reasonable results in the scheme of things, away to rival teams in the top-half of the table.
Sandro Wagner is Hoffenheim’s leading marksman with seven league goals, but Dortmund can call upon the Bundesliga’s leading scorer in 15-goal Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The Gabon striker has been the opening scorer on eight occasions this season already, so at 11/4 in the first goalscorer market, Aubameyang is the obvious pick
Borussia Dortmund have scored an average of 2.29 goals per game this season, whilst Hoffenheim are scoring at a healthy rate 1.79 per game. With Hoffenheim´s home matches averaging 2.71 goals per game and Dortmund’s away trips weighing in at 3.86, it does suggest goals here and the 12/1 available on a 2-2 draw with William Hill looks worth an interest.
With Hoffenheim yet to taste defeat this season and Dortmund having won just two of seven on the road and with Hoffenheim having won 57% of their home matches to date, whilst Dortmund have a 29% success rate away from home, it’s difficult to back the visitors with any great conviction, so taking Hoffenheim +0.5 on the Asian Handicap looks the bet, ensuring a winning bet even in the event of a drawn match.
HEAD TO HEAD
Hoffenheim have won only 1 of the last 10 meetings between the sides. The last two games between the teams at the WIRSOL Rhein-Neckar-Arena have ended as 1-1 draws.
