Hull v Aston Villa Past Meetings

This will be the 11th competitive fixture between the two clubs, with Villa comfortably ahead on the head-to-head record with seven wins compared to just one for Hull.

However, that sole Villa loss came in their last trip to Humberside as Hull won the top-flight clash 2-0 thanks to goals from Nikica Jelavic and Dame N’Doye.

The league meeting earlier in the campaign at Villa Park finished 1-1, with Jarrod Bowen cancelling out Gabriel Agbonlahor’s early opener for the hosts.

Hull v Aston Villa Stats

– Hull languish in 18th place in the Championship – just four positions and six points above the relegation zone.

– 25 of City’s 39 points have come at the KCOM Stadium – the 18th strongest home record in the division.

– The Tigers have won two of their last three matches, with victories over Norwich and Ipswich being followed up by a disappointing 3-0 loss at Birmingham.

– Villa sit fourth in the standings but have the division’s sixth best away record – with 30 points from their 19 games on the road – only nine points fewer than Hull have won all season.

– The recent back-to-back defeats to QPR and Bolton – both in the lower half of the standings – ended a run of three straight victories for Villa, which included a 4-1 thumping of league leaders Wolves the previous week.

Hull v Aston Villa Team News

Hull will continue with their 4-2-3-1 line-up which is headed by Abel Hernandez and flanked by Harry Wilson and Jarrod Bowen, although Nouha Dicko and Fraizer Campbell are both pushing for places.

Villa are expected to continue to revert back to their 4-4-2 formation with Scott Hogan coming back in to partner Lewis Grabban in the attack, while Manchester United loanee Axel Tuanzebe and midfielder Mile Jedinak are among those pushing for starts.

Reason for Hull v Aston Villa Bets

This is – typically for the ever-competitive EFL Championship league – a tough game to call, with neither side showing much strong recent form.

Aston Villa remain in the top four but their two recent damaging defeats may well put automatic promotion to the English Premier League beyond them this season – they are seven points off second-placed Cardiff, who have a game in hand.

The Tigers suffered a surprising 3-0 loss at Villa’s city neighbours Birmingham City last time out and the threat of relegation still exists for Nigel Adkins’s men.

However, despite having inferior quality to manager Steve Bruce’s Aston Villa squad they have slightly stronger recent form and also possess the home advantage, making a draw the quite likely outcome here.

13 goals have flown in across Hull’s last three games – their strength lies in attack – while Villa are the league’s third highest scorers, so we should expect some goals in this game.
