The X is over but Factor in the Christmas Number 1 Betting Race
X Factor: Celebrity is down to just four acts and will reach its conclusion on Saturday night. As a novelty TV betting medium, this one looks over.
Meghan McKenna, who was 5/1 (6.00) at the outset, is now top-priced 2/7 (1.29) with William Hill to collect the prize on Saturday.
Even the ‘Without the Favourite’ betting market is dead as ‘Max and Harvey’ are available at 1.69 on the Betfair betting exchange to be ‘best of the rest’ (at the time of writing).

Christmas Number One Betting Odds
However, there is one interesting reality TV betting angle with the prospect of the show providing the Christmas Number One single….
X Factor winners have gone on to record the Christmas No. 1 every year from 2005 to 2008 and then 2010, 2013 to 2014 – so many will be looking at Meghan McKenna to top the charts at Christmas.
However this week it was announced by the show’s boss, Simon Cowell, that the individual X Factor winner will not record a song by themselves, instead all X Factor: Celebrity live show contestants will collaborate on a charity single.
A multitude of performers can only aid the sales of the song – a version of Snow Patrol’s ‘Run’ – and so the Coral’s 12/1 quote about the song heading the charts at Christmas must be considered fair value.

Strictly Stranglehold
Meanwhile, on the Beeb, Kelvin Fletcher continues to tighten his grip on Strictly Come Dancing betting favouritism. The long-standing market principle is into 1/3 from 4/9 following Karim Zeroual (and professional partner Amy Dowden) appearance in a dance-off last weekend. Consequently Karim has drifted out to 11/2 (bet365*) from 3/1 to lift the Glitterball.
Good job you can rely on your nearest and dearest for #Strictly votes – isn’t that right @kelvin_fletcher? 😂 pic.twitter.com/X2jzHAZBBY

But there is one race which is very much ‘live’, that being the distinction of ‘Top Woman’. And here you might be lucky enough to enjoy an ‘arb’ at Unibet are offering 11/10 about Emma Barton and bet365* are going 11/10 about the only other remaining woman celeb, Alex Scott.
