F1 Betting Tips: The high downforce Nurburgring should suit McLaren
This week’s Formula 1 contest has been titled the ‘Eifel Grand Prix’. You would be forgiven for thinking it takes place in France (something to do with that big metal tower in Paris) but instead it is happening over 60 laps of the 5.148-kilometre circuit in Nurburgring in Germany. Read on for all our expert Eifel Grand Prix betting tips and picks below.

The venue staged the German Grand Prix in 2009, 2011 and 2013 so we don’t have much form to go on but being labelled as ‘high downforce’ with the longest flat-out section being just 928 metres – its twice that in Spa, Belgium – the playing field should be levelled a little.
The Red Bull team are probably fancying their chances of a strong performance at this venue but from a punting perspective siding with the McLarens and Ferrari of Charles Leclerc to perform well is the way to go.
Lando Norris looks a great bet at Betway’s odds of 5/4 for a top-6 finish. The British McLaren driver lays fourth in the 2020 Drivers Championship standings and has finished in top-6 in half of this season’s ten races to date. Two of his best results came at Austria which on paper (technical demands on the car) is a similar circuit to the Nurburgring.
Furthermore Norris finished on the podium and took the fastest lap of the race in the season opening Austrian race. At Betvictor’s 40/1 he’s worth a small investment in this market too.

8/13 is not a get rich quick price but it is still value when it comes to Charles Leclerc finishing in the top-10 (a points finish).
His Ferrari will be much happier here than at some of the higher speed recently visited venues and with his young driver proving to be both fast and reliable he should be able to claim his third successive points finish with the minimum of fuss.
Teammate Sebastian Vettel has been downbeat this year following the Italian squad dispensing of his services for 2021 onwards. But hopefully a car which is competitive and home advantage should see him play a meaningful part in proceedings. At the very least he will surely finish the race and should be backed accordingly at 2/5 with Betfair, William Hill and others.
