Liverpool v Everton Past Meetings
This will be the 189th competitive fixture between the two clubs, with Liverpool ahead on head-to-head victories with 74 wins to Everton’s 51.
The two met at Anfield in a league encounter last month, with Wayne Rooney’s late penalty cancelling out Mohamed Salah’s opener for the hosts.
The Toffees have failed to beat their city rivals in their last 15 meetings whilst they have triumphed only once in the last 25 clashes.
The last FA Cup meeting between the two was a semi-final won 2-1 by Liverpool in 2012 but nine years ago Everton defeat the Reds in the FA Cup Fourth Round, winning 1-0 at home in a replay after the first game finished scoreless.
Liverpool v Everton Stats
Liverpool are now unbeaten in their last 16 matches in all competitions following their 4-1 defeat at Tottenham back in October.
However, Jurgen Klopp’s side have only won six of their last 12 matches at Anfield – a run littered with six draws, including the clash with Everton.
Liverpool (50) have the second best offensive record in the top flight, scoring exactly twice as many goals as Everton (25) who have the ninth best attacking record.
Everton have lost two successive matches – after Sam Allardyce went unbeaten in his first eight games in charge – but they have also now only scored one goal in their last four.
Liverpool v Everton Team News
Liverpool will be without Jordan Henderson (hamstring), Alberto Moreno (ankle), Nathaniel Clyne (back), Adam Bogdan (ACL knee) and Marko Grujic (fractured finger).
They also have doubts over Mohamed Salah (groin), Philippe Coutinho (thigh) and Daniel Sturridge (muscle).
Everton will continue to be without Leighton Baines (calf muscle), Seamus Coleman (broken leg), Ramiro Funes Mori (cartilage knee) Maarten Stekelenburg (groin), but may be able to welcome back Ross Barkley (hamstring).
Reason for Liverpool v Everton Bets
The home side are favourites to win this due to their superior squad and also their current form – winning four of their last five matches, while Everton are without a win in four.
Last month’s clash ended in a draw but the Toffees offered little in an attacking sense and may feel fortunate their performance allowed them to escape with a point.
It is unlikely Liverpool will pass up so many presentable opportunities again and should be in a strong position to win the match, despite Everton’s defensive resoluteness.
Sadio Mane scored in each of Liverpool’s wins over their city rivals last season and also found the net in the New Year’s Day victory over Burnley.
At 17/10 to find the net anytime in this fixture, his odds represent strong value.
