Nottingham Forest v Arsenal Past Meetings
This will be the 90th competitive fixture between the two clubs, with Arsenal ahead on head-to-head victories with 44 wins to Forest’s 25.
Arsenal won a League Cup clash in Nottingham 4-0 last season, with Granit Xhaka and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain both on target, alongside a Lucas Perez double.
Prior to that clash, the two had not met this millennium with their previous clash coming in 1999.
Forest have only beaten Arsenal once in the last 26 years – a 2-1 home victory in 1996 – and have lost each of their last four meetings to the Gunners.
Nottingham Forest v Arsenal Stats
Nottingham Forest are without a manager after sacking Mark Warburton on New Year’s Eve, with assistant David Weir and director of football Frank McParland also leaving the club.
Academy manager Gary Brazil is in temporary charge of first-team affairs and led his side to an admirable point at playoff hopefuls Leeds United on New Year’s Day.
Forest lie 14th in the Championship standings and have 21 points from 13 home fixtures – winning seven and losing six.
However, the Midlands club are without a win in five and have only one victory in eight, with five defeats in that run.
Arsenal’s away form this season has been below par and they only have the ninth strongest record on the road in the top flight – with 13 points from 11 outings.
The Gunners have won the FA Cup in three of the past four seasons.
Nottingham Forest v Arsenal Team News
The hosts are likely to stick with their 4-2-3-1 formation with no fresh injury or suspension worries following their draw at Elland Road.
Mustapha Carayol, Zach Clough, Armand Traore and Jason Cummings will all be jostling to win back their place in the starting line-up in attacking positions.
Arsenal will be without Sead Kolasinac (knee), Santi Cazorla (plantaris) and Olivier Giroud (hamstring) while they also have fitness doubts over Aaron Ramsey and Nacho Monreal.
Reason for Nottingham Forest v Arsenal Bets
Arsenal are likely to field a much-changed starting line-up for this match but nonetheless should be massive favourites.
The hosts will no doubt be motivated for the game with a sold out home crowd behind them, but the lack of a manager and a poor run of form means any hopes they have of a cup upset are very slim.
The Gunners have an extremely strong recent record in this competition and will view this another chance to add silverware this campaign.
We should expect goals in this one – only one side in the bottom half of the Championship has scored more than Forest this season (33) while the worst defence in the league – Hull City, have conceded only twice more than the Midlands club (42).
Arsenal won 4-0 at the ground last season in the League Cup and will be aiming for a similar score line in this game with fringe players expected to stake their claim for a regular starting place.
