Monza F1 stats: It all points to a clean race with plenty of confident bet options
Last weekend it was Spa, the most exciting of all modern day F1 circuits, this weekend it is Monza, Italy, the fastest of all the race tracks on the 2020 F1 calendar. Below are all our Italian Grand Prix predictions and best bets…

Italian Grand Prix Predictions – Total Finishers
Of course Spa is by no means slow, it is actually very fast – Monza just happens to have a longer straight and is simply quicker. It is also one of the most straight-forward of all circuits and those long fast straights and big run-off areas at the very few turns means the finishing numbers are always high here.
And so, without further ado, here is our top bet for Sunday:
Total Classified Drivers – Over 17.5 at 11/8 with bet365*
Italian Grand Prix Predictions – Fastest Lap
For six times in the past 10 years Lewis Hamilton has claimed the fastest lap of this race. With the accolade carrying an extra world championship point in 2020 and with his Mercedes car head-and-shoulders above its rivals, he’s a sound bet (at 6/4 with Betfred) to further improve his excellent record in this sphere.
Fastest Lap of the Race: Lewis Hamilton at 11/8 with Boylesports
Italian Grand Prix Predictions – Race Winner
Alas Hamilton is a little too short in the race win market at Unibet’s top-priced 1/2 but there is some value in here with Daniel Ricciardo available at 33/1 with William Hill. The Australian qualified fourth last weekend and he filled the same position in the race finishing just three seconds adrift of third placed Max Verstappen.
Verstappen is just 11/2 to score on Sunday and given Ricciardo’s car is likely to enjoy the long straight at Monza more than Verstappen’s Red Bull, he looks a great each-way play.
Race Win Market: Daniel Ricciardo (each-way) at 33/1 William Hill
Italian Grand Prix Predictions – Winning Margin
Beforehand, naturally, comes qualifying. Here the Mercedes is sure to thrive (it is actually a better qualifying car than race car – which says something given it is near invincible). So this one is a simple match: Hamilton or teammate Bottas. The prices for either seem about right but a ‘qualifying winning margin’ of 0.25sec or more is way too big at bet365’s 7/4.
The qualifying lap, as this is a long circuit, will take around 1min 19sec and like a four-mile horse race compared with a five furlong sprint, this allows for margins to be spaced out more than usual. In this instance we are hoping this is the case with either Hamilton or Bottas misfiring being an enormous help to our chances.
Qualifying Winning Margin 0.25sec+ 7/4 bet365*
