NOTTS COUNTY V CARLISLE PREDICTIONS, BETTING TIPS & MATCH PREVIEW
Saturday 31st December 15:00, Meadow Lane.
NOTTS COUNTY V CARLISLE PREDICTIONS
Carlisle at 5/4 with Betfred
Jason Kennedy at 21/10 with Paddy Power
These two teams come into this New Year’s Eve clash at opposite ends of the League Two table, with Carlisle sitting in the automatic promotion places and with Notts County fifth from bottom and needing every point they can scrape together.
Having lost seven consecutive League Two matches, Notts County’s situation is quite bleak and it is unlikely to look any better for coach John Sheridan when the New Year bells ring. He is still away from the dugout as he completes a five-match touchline ban, with Alex Rodman and Stanley Aborah also out injured. Matt Tootle limped out of their Boxing Day defeat to Doncaster Rovers so is also doubtful, but there is some good news as captain Michael O’Connor returns from injury.
It is a much happier time for Carlisle’s coach Keith Curle, who may be able to welcome Joe McKee, Mike Jones and Danny Grainger back from injury. They’re all still doubtful, but could potentially return.
NOTTS COUNTY V CARLISLE WINNER ODDS
Carlisle are, understandably, the favourites with the bookmakers for this one and anyone tipping them to win at Betfred’s 5/4 odds would more than double their money if Keith Curle’s side do indeed get the victory.
With County having lost seven of their home matches this season, an away victory is on the cards, particularly when considering that Carlisle defeated this week’s opponents 3-0 and 5-0 in their League Two meetings last season. Going by the league table, Carlisle are a better team now than they were then and Notts County have gotten poorer, so a prediction of an away win seems to be a wise one.
NOTTS COUNTY V CARLISLE ANYTIME SCORER ODDS
Driving United up the table have been the goals of Charlie Wyke, who is priced at 7/4 by Paddy Power to write his name onto the weekend’s score sheet once again. The 24-year-old has already reached double figures for the season, grabbing his ninth and tenth goals during the month of December.
Tipping him to score at anytime is worth considering, while the odds for Jason Kennedy to score at some point in the 90 minutes should also pique the interest. He is priced at 21/10 by Paddy Power to grab a goal and with nine to his name so far this campaign you would not put it past him.
NOTTS COUNTY V CARLISLE VERDICTS
Going by the results in these two teams’ meetings last season and going by their current form, there is one overwhelming favourite in this match and that is the away side. The obvious prediction, therefore, is for a Carlisle United win and that is probably the smart prediction, while Wyke and Kennedy are the men most likely to come up with the goals to see them past this sorry County side.
