Paris Saint-Germain and Nice meet at the Parc des Princes on Sunday evening in a clash between two of the three genuine title contenders in Ligue 1.
PSG haven’t been quite the dominant force to which we’ve become accustomed in French football so far this season.
It perhaps wasn’t a great surprise that they started the season a little off the pace, with the club having to adjust to Unai Emery having replaced Laurent Blanc as coach and the departure of two huge personalities on the pitch in Zlatan Ibrahimovic and David Luiz over the summer.
It had seemed that they were back on track after an impressive run of form throughout October and November, but the past week has seen them suffer a 3-0 defeat at lowly Montpellier in Ligue 1, followed by a potentially costly 2-2 draw at home to Ludogorets in their final Champions’ League group game (costing them top spot in Group A) that has raised further question marks.
Nice, on the other hand, have surpassed all expectations this season to date, having led the table almost from the off.
You’ll struggle to find a better price than 4/11 (1.36) for PSG to win this match, which seems absurdly short given both their current poor form and that Nice have lost just once and conceded a mere 10 goals in 16 Ligue 1 matches to date.
That short price provides the opportunity of backing Nice +1.5 on the Asian Handicap, which would ensure that even were PSG to win by any one-goal margin, you would still have a winning bet.
