BOURNEMOUTH VS ARSENAL PREDICTIONS
Bournemouth / Draw at 11/10 with Boylesports
OVER/UNDER TOTAL GOALS:
Over 3.5 Goals at 2/1 with BetVictor
They may have met as recently as the end of November, but Bournemouth and Arsenal will square off yet again as they kick off 2017 with a Premier League match at the Vitality Stadium. The Gunners won 3-1 in that meeting just over one month ago, with an Alexis Sánchez double and a Theo Walcott strike cancelling out Callum Wilson’s penalty kick.
Since then, however, Bournemouth have secured a couple of impressive victories, defeating a rampant Liverpool 4-3 and seeing off champions Leicester 1-0. Both those victories came at home, which has helped to make the Cherries the joint-seventh best home side in the division. They have taken 16 points from the 27 up for grabs at the Vitality Stadium, a home record just as good as Manchester United.
That suggests that this won’t be an easy trip for Arsenal, who will have one fewer day to rest given that Bournemouth are in action against Swansea on New Year’s Eve, while Arsenal have a New Year’s Day clash against Crystal Palace. Also troubling for Arsene Wenger will be the fact that Santi Cazorla, Per Mertesacker and Mathieu Debuchy are still out injured, while Theo Walcott, Chuba Akpom, Kieran Gibbs, Shkodran Mustafi, Danny Welbeck and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are all doubtful.
Arsenal’s lengthy injury list could prove problematic, but Bournemouth coach Eddie Howe has a just two names – Marc Pugh and Lewis Cook – on his medical report, which should see some Bournemouth fans predicting a home win. He will, however, be without Jack Wilshere as he cannot take on his parent club.
BOURNEMOUTH VS ARSENAL WINNER ODDS
Despite their injury concerns, the short preparation time and Bournemouth’s excellent home record, Arsenal are still favourites with the bookmakers and are tipped to win at 17/20 by bet365 and BetVictor.
Marathon Bet have the best odds for a draw – at 3/1 – and for a Bournemouth win – at 77/20 – but a double chance bet on the match to finish as either a draw or a home win could be one of the best-looking betting tips of the day. Boyle Sports are pricing that at 11/10 and it could be a prediction worth considering, given how many factors are against Arsenal.
The fact that Wenger’s side has been struggling in recent weeks should also make this bet look a wise one, with the Gunners having lost to Everton and Manchester City in their past two away trips, while they needed a last gasp Olivier Giroud header to see off West Brom at home on Boxing Day.
BOURNEMOUTH VS ARSENAL ANYTIME SCORER ODDS
After that header, Giroud is one of the leading contenders to get on the scoresheet in this one and is priced at 11/8 to score at anytime by multiple bookmakers. Yet, at 6/5 odds, Sánchez is the favourite to score after his four-goal December.
From a Bournemouth point of view, Callum Wilson is their main man when it comes to scoring goals. He is their top scorer with five goals and is priced at betting odds of 23/10 to score in 90 minutes by BetStars, Coral and BetFair.
BOURNEMOUTH VS ARSENAL VERDICTS
This looks like being an exciting match and there is a good chance of an upset, making the aforementioned double chance bet worth tipping.
Another bet worth looking into is a bet on there to be over 3.5 goals in the match. BetVictor have odds of 2/1 on there to be at least four goals in this one and the fact that Arsenal and Bournemouth are both in the top seven in terms of the number of goals scored in their matches makes this an enticing one.
