Premier League Darts Finals Tips & Preview
Daryl Gurney vs Michael van Gerwen
Considering Daryl Gurney has beaten Michael van Gerwen in both of their 2019 Premier League Darts matches it’s remarkable that the reigning World Champion is 1/5 across the bookmaker’s boards to beat the Northern Irish player in Thursday night’s Premier League Darts semi-final play-off match.
When you factor in MVG was beaten in two low-key Players Championship competitions over the weekend and posted poor figures when beating Mensur Suljovic last week, he looks the worst 1/5 proposition in betting history.
Daryl Gurney had an easier task against Michael Smith seven days ago but in recording a 101.8 three-dart average and posting five 180’s he was probably more impressive. And that means he has to be backed at BetVictor’s industry top price of 11/10 about a victory on the handicap which gives him a +3.5 leg start against MVG.
And given Gurney has posted more 180’s during the tournament than Michael van Gerwen and registered more ‘maximums’ than him during both their previous Premier League Darts matches, bet365’s* 7/5 about ‘Superchin’ recording the most match 180’s looks mouth-watering stuff.
Premier League Darts Finals Tips
– Daryl Gurney (+3.5 legs) to beat MVG on the Handicap at 11/10 with BetVictor
– Daryl Gurney Most Match 180’s at 7/5 with bet365*

James Wade vs Rob Cross to go deep
The James Wade versus Rob Cross encounter is a far tougher game to find a betting edge. Wade unexpectedly beat Rob Cross 8-6 when they a week ago but Cross enjoyed the verdict, 7-4, in their February Premier League Darts meeting. And the lifetime darts head-to-heads between these two players also leave you head scratching as they are six apiece from their 12 previous matches.
Rob Cross did seem to peak mid-way through the regular darts season but he has only won two of his last five PL games. Wade has three wins and three draws from his last six matches and one of the stalemates was against MVG in a very high scoring encounter.
With seven league wins and six draws it is clear Wade is as tenacious as ever and if he is beaten by Rob Cross here it is unlikely to be by a big margin. There’s a choice of possible Premier League Darts 2019 bets if you agree this will be a close-run affair – you can back the total number of legs to be over 17.5 legs which is 13/8 at BetVictor or simply support James Wade on the handicap betting market with a +1.5 leg start at 5/6 with William Hill. Just in case Wade franks last week’s form and wins handsomely, we are pinning our hopes and placing our money on the second scenario.
Premier League Darts Finals Tips
– James Wade (+1.5 legs) to beat Rob Cross on the Handicap at 5/6 with William Hill
