Night 15 Premier League Darts Predictions – Plenty to play for in Aberdeen

It’s the final week of the regular season for some Premier League Darts predictions.  Michael van Gerwen, Rob Cross, Michael Smith and Gary Anderson will be heading to London’s O2 Arena next week for the grand final.

That’s not exactly true but to quote Anderson: “It would need a miracle or disaster for me not to make it [in to the final] now.” The other three players are guaranteed their spot.

But there is still plenty to play for.  The league winner, which is guaranteed to be Michael van Gerwen, will play the fourth placed finisher in the table so Rob Cross and Michael Smith have a great incentive to claim a full two points from their games.

Tonight’s Premier League Darts bets:

  • Michael Smith to beat Barneveld 7/5 (2.40) with Betfair
  • Daryl Gurney (+1.5 handicap) to beat Wright 4/6 (1.67) with Sunbets
  • Rob Cross to have highest checkout (vs Whitlock) 8/13 (1.63) with Sunbets
  • Rob Cross (-2.5 legs) to beat Whitlock on the handicap 4/5 (1.80) with Sunbets
  • Michael van Gerwen to beat Gary Anderson 7-2 and 7-3 both 6/1 with Unibet

Michael Smith vs Raymond van Barneveld

Given Michael Smith beat Raymond van Barneveld 7-0 when they last met (April 5th in Liverpool), it is quite amazing to see online bookmakers can barely separate this pair in the darts betting odds.

But Barneveld’s been in great form since, beating Gary Anderson 7-3 last week, drawing with Rob Cross, and accounting for Michael van Gerwen and Simon Whitlock on home soil three weeks ago.

Smith simply beats every Premier League Darts rival with the exception of the ‘big three’, that’s MVG, Cross and Anderson.  Last week’s draw against Gurney after enjoying an early lead, was a rare reversal in fortunes but we think he can confirm his recent form against the Dutchman, if not the impressive score-line.

Peter Wright vs Daryl Gurney

This duo have recorded 12 draws between them in this year’s Premier League.  It is amazing given they have played 15 games apiece. They drew when they last met and may well draw again.  The bookmakers seem to agree, they cannot separate them.

But Wright has shown the ability to get beaten by wide margins, underlined by his 2018 Premier League record of winning 68 legs and conceding 88.  As Gurney has won one more leg than he has conceded (83-82) he looks a good thing in the handicap market where another draw or an outright win will be a winning darts bet.

Everything Crossed (Rob Cross v Simon Whitlock)

The Australian comes out behind on all known stats here (checkout percentages, 3-dart averages, 180’s etc) so it is hard to make any case for him.  We are opposing him in a few markets including the ‘highest checkout’.

MVG to spank Gary Anderson

Michael van Gerwen beat Gary Anderson at this fixture last year and, despite Anderson’s ‘home advantage’ we think he will do so again – comprehensively.

Over the weekend MVG won the European Darts Grand Prix in Germany beating James Wade 8-3 in the decider where he registered a 110 average.  And in last week’s Premier League he brushed aside Rob Cross with a 111.57 three-dart average.

Given Anderson was beaten by Simon Whitlock and Raymond van Barneveld these past two weeks, he should be no match for an in-form MVG and could be badly beaten this.

This week’s Premier League Darts predictions:
