On Fire Nathan Aspinall to Set the Night Alight
It’s week 2 of the new Premier League Darts 2020 season and the action, as usual live on SKY Sports, comes from Nottingham. But just a few days ago the PDC darts bandwagon was in Barnsley for the opening two ranking tournaments of the season and they threw up two amazing winners.
Nathan Aspinall, who posted a 170 check-out against John Henderson last week, landed his fourth PDC title when taking a Barnsley Players Championship on Sunday.
Beating Carl Wilkinson, Peter Jacques, Jason Lowe, Keegan Brown and whitewashing Gabriel Clemens 7-0 in the semi-final probably doesn’t amount to much from a form perspective. But his quarter-final performance against Peter Wright was truly amazing. During the game he recorded a nine-dart finish and averaged a breath-taking 117.5. As for the final he quickly tamed Gerwyn Price by eight-legs-to-three.
Twice a World Championship semi-finalist, the 28-year-old from Stockport is rapidly improving and will surely beat an ever-increasingly disappointing Rob Cross in Thursday night’s opening game. He can be backed at a generous 13/10 at Coral.
Gary Anderson is Back
Back problems made 2019 a write-off for Gary Anderson and during the year he played and lost to Peter Wright four times. Nevertheless he still has the better head-to-head record beating his Scottish teammate 26 times (to 18 losses).
However the dual World Champion was another to take a trophy at the weekend when he landed the first PDC ranking tournament of 2020 by beating Adrian Lewis, Simon Whitlock, Gerwyn Price, Rob Cross, Joe Cullen and, in final, Jeff Smith. There are some big names here so clearly the form is strong. Consequently you have to conclude he is over-priced at Coral’s 9/5.
Fallon Sherrock History Maker
Fallon Sherrock may have created history at the 2020 PDC World Darts Championship but Betfair say it’s 11/2 about her being responsible for another first – that being her becoming the first ‘challenger’ to win a Premier League Darts match.
“The pressure is going to be on Glen”
We caught up with Fallon Sherrock ahead of her Premier League debut tomorrow night against Glen Durrant…

Four Legs for Fallon?
It looks an impossible task and you have to fear she gets thumped by Glen Durrant in the game scheduled for 9.30pm. Bet365 offers even-money about Durrant in the handicap betting market where he forfeits a 3.5 leg start. That means this proposition is a winner if Sherrock fails to claim four legs and on this stage that does indeed look a big ask.
