REASONS FOR LIVERPOOL VS SWANSEA CITY BETTING TIPS
Liverpool play host to Swansea City in the Premier League’s Saturday lunchtime offering in a game that features the most prolific goalscoring team in the league facing off against the team with the worst defensive record.
Liverpool come into this game having still lost just twice all season and having come away from Old Trafford last Sunday with a well-deserved 1-1 draw.
It was a tough Premier League baptism for newly-appointed Swansea boss Paul Clement, as his new charges went down 4-0 at home to Arsenal last weekend and it’s unlikely to get any easier at Anfield.
Liverpool are best odds of 1/4 to win this game with Stan James. That’s a prohibitively short price from a punter’s perspective, although it’s difficult to argue against.
For added value we need to take into account the goal markets so, looking at the Match Result & Total Goals Over/Under, backing a Liverpool victory with Over 3.5 Goals in the match looks the way to go.
An alternative would be Match Result & Both Teams To Score (‘BTTS’), with Liverpool & Yes available at 13/8 with bet365. Liverpool rarely look totally secure at the back, particularly with Joel Matip being unavailable.
Jurgen Klopp’s men have won seven of their nine games at Anfield to date and they tend not to hang about, having also led at half-time in six of those victories. In four of Swansea’s seven defeats away from home they’ve also been losing at the interval. The Half-time/Full-time Double Result of Liverpool/Liverpool is on offer at 3/4 with Coral.
On the Asian Handicap it could be worth taking Liverpool -2.0 at 21/20 with Betfred. That would mean that the Reds would have to win by three clear goals or more for a winning bet, but you would get your stake returned in full in the event of a two-goal margin of victory.
With regards to a Correct Score, a 4-1 Liverpool win at 16/1 with bet365 could give you a run for your money.
If looking for an Anytime Goalscorer, Roberto Firmino stands out at 6/5 with 888sport (he’s odds-on elsewhere). Adam Lallana also looks value at 9/5 with Paddy Power. For Swansea, Gylfi Sigurdsson is a 9/2 shot, also with Paddy Power.
LIVERPOOL VS SWANSEA CITY STATS
Liverpool have averaged a very healthy 2.89 goals per game (GPG) at Anfield in the Premier League this season, whilst conceding just 0.78 GPG. Swansea’s away goal count stands at 0.90 GPG, whilst conceding at a rate of 2.20 GPG.
Both Teams To Score (BTTS) has occurred in 67% of Liverpool’s Premier League matches at Anfield this term and in 60% of Swansea’s away games.
LIVERPOOL TEAM NEWS
Sadio Mane is away on Africa Cup of Nations duty, while Joel Matip remains unavailable until Cameroon are eliminated from the same competition as a result of FIFA ruling that he can’t feature for the Reds after pulling out of the Cameroon squad. Danny Ings remains a long-term injury absence and Nathaniel Clyne is a doubt. Mamadou Sakho remains frozen out of the first-team picture at Anfield.
SWANSEA CITY TEAM NEWS
Swansea are set to be without Neil Taylor and Jefferson Montero and there are additional doubts over the availability of Modou Barrow and new-signing Luciano Narsingh. Tom Carroll and Martin Olsson could both feature if their proposed signings are concluded in time.
