SWANSEA VS ARSENAL PREDICTIONS
Paul Clement will take charge of his first home game as Swansea City boss and he’ll have a tough opponent on the other side, with Arsenal the team coming to town. A positive for Swansea fans, though, is that the Gunners have been struggling away from home in recent matches, losing 2-1 away at Everton and Manchester City, drawing 3-3 away at Bournemouth and only just squeezing past Preston North End with a late winner in the FA Cup.
As such, there is some hope for the league’s second bottom side. They are still missing Jefferson Montero and Neil Taylor as a result of their respective hamstring and rib injuries, but other than that Clement has a fairly healthy squad to work with.
Arsenal, meanwhile, have far more injury concerns, but there is some good news for Arsene Wenger as he welcomes back a number of players. Per Mertesacker, Francis Coquelin and Santi Cazorla remain out, while Theo Walcott is a doubt, but Mesut Ozil, Mathieu Debuchy, Kieran Gibbs and Hector Bellerin are all set to return after their names had also spent some time on the medical report.
SWANSEA VS ARSENAL WINNER ODDS
Although Arsenal have been poor on the road in recent weeks, they are still heavy favourites to win this match, priced at betting odds of 1/2 by multiple bookmakers. Paul Clement is highly regarded as a coach, but he won’t have had enough time to make a serious impact on this misfiring team, as evidenced by their FA Cup exit last weekend.
With Arsenals recent struggles, it could be closer than their respective league positions suggest, but the visitors are predicted to ultimately grind out the win.
SWANSEA VS ARSENAL ANYTIME SCORER ODDS
In terms of goalscorers, one player who must be tipped for an anytime scorer bet is Olivier Giroud. The Frenchman has scored in each of Arsenal’s past four matches and has been a rare bright spark during an otherwise unhappy festive period for the Gunners.
His scorpion kick effort against Crystal Palace was the pick of the bunch, but he was also on hand to net against West Brom, Bournemouth and Preston, so his odds of 24/23 with 888Sport are well worth considering.
On the Swansea side, Paddy Power’s 7/2 odds for Gylfi Sigurdsson to score are worth considering. He has been one of the few impressive performers during Swansea’s difficult start to the season and he’s even scored two goals against Arsenal in his past five matches against the London-based side, including one when the Swans visited the Emirates earlier in the season.
SWANSEA VS ARSENAL PREDICTION
Although Arsenal are expected to collect all three points and are, therefore, a good tip, it is worth keeping in mind that they have conceded at least once in their past nine away games in all competitions. As such, a ‘Both Teams to Score’ bet – priced at odds of 8/11 by Betfred – could be a smart one.
There could, therefore, be plenty of goals for those attending the Liberty Stadium, with the aforementioned Giroud and Sigurdsson major candidates to get on that score sheet.
