WATFORD VS TOTTENHAM PREDICTIONS
ANYTIME GOALSCORER :
Harry Kane at 11/10 with William Hill
Draw/Tottenham at 1/6 with bet365
Tottenham Hotspur will be first-footing Watford’s Vicarage Road on New Year’s Day as they look to keep up their push for a top four finish. Having won just once in their past six Premier League matches, Watford are in desperate need of points and are unlikely to make it easy for Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs side, a team that is set to be without Erik Lamela as he continues his recovery from a hip injury.
Watford, on the other hand, will hope that Isaac Success, Craig Cathcart and Stefano Okaka are fit enough to start, while Daryl Janmaat and Valon Behrami look set to miss out after suffering early injuries in their Boxing Day 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace. Miguel Britos will similarly be out after picking up a suspension for yellow card accumulation, so coach Walter Mazzarri will be especially hopeful that Cathcart can return.
WATFORD VS TOTTENHAM WINNER ODDS
Given Watford’s mini injury crisis and given Tottenham’s extra dose of quality, the visitors are unsurprisingly the favourites for this one, with the bookmakers predicting a Spurs win. Pochettino’s men are given betting odds of 3/4 with William Hill to kick off 2017 with three Premier League points, while Watford are priced at 24/5 with BetFair to cause an upset and to secure just a second victory in seven games.
If Tottenham do win this one then it would follow up their 2-1 win in this fixture from last season, which was also played during the busy Christmas and New Year schedule.
WATFORD VS TOTTENHAM ANYTIME SCORER ODDS
Heung-Min Son scored the last minute winner in this game last year and he is one of the prime candidates to find the back of the net this time around, tipped to score at anytime at 32Red’s 21/10 odds. He is enjoying an even more prolific season in 2016/17, having already found the back of the net five times.
The leading candidate, though, to score a New Year’s goal is Spurs’ star striker Harry Kane. His odds to score in the 90 minutes with William Hill are 11/10. He has only scored once against the Hornets in six career appearances, but with eight goals already this Premier League campaign and with three goals in his December he is the prediction of many to get on the scoresheet.
WATFORD VS TOTTENHAM VERDICTS
It is certainly hard to see past Tottenham in this one, even if it was close last season. No team has drawn more times than Spurs this season so a draw/Tottenham double chance bet – priced at 1/6 by Bet365 – might be an even safer one, while tipping an away win also looks smart.
As for the goalscorers, Harry Kane is set to lead Mauricio Pochettino’s line yet again so it is unsurprising that he is the favourite to score at anytime.
