Snooker International Championship Betting Tips & Preview
The second ranking tournament of the 2019/20 Snooker season gets underway in China this weekend and you can watch live action of the International Championship from 7.30am on Sunday at Eurosport. Scroll down for some Snooker International Championship betting tips on the opening round which takes place in the morning and afternoon on Sunday and Monday here in the UK.
Many of the highest ranked players, including defending champion Mark Allen, (see video below), will have to play a qualifying match on arrival in China, the others include: Ding Junhui, John Higgins, last week’s Riga Masters winner Yan Bingtao and World Champion Judd Trump.
That makes the ante-post outright markets a little cloudy but the real value seems to be in opposing some of the short-priced players in opening round matches of this valuable competition – it has an £802,000 prize-pool.
Amongst Monday morning’s matches we really like the 11/2 about Jak Jones defeating Mark Williams. That’s a huge price given Jones beat Ali Carter (4-frames-to-1) in the opening round of the Riga Masters a week ago. Mark Williams did make it to the second round of the competition albeit he was massively disappointing when beaten 4-frames-to-1 in the second round.
The Welshman’s form tapered off badly in 2019 and considering he only just scraped into this competition with a 6-5 verdict over little-known John Astley in mid-June qualifier, he’s very opposable at huge odds.
Murphy’s woes to continue?
Shaun Murphy suffered a lot of first round defeats last season and his attitude and commitment has been called into question a lot since he moved to Ireland.
He plays Chinese teenager Yuan Sijun on Monday and he should not be underestimated following a recent victory over Ricky Walden and narrow loss to Li Hang in Riga. Home advantage counts for bundles in this event and at 11/8 Yuan Sijun looks worthy of a snooker bet here.
Another first round Blitz predicted
Jack Lisowski has still yet to win a ranking tournament but he continues to blitz rivals in early stages of competitions. He posted a 119 break in the opening round of the Riga Masters, a 145 in the second round and a 140 in the third round.
Odds of 2/7 do not set the pulse racing but he is likely to have Andrew Higginson beaten inside an hour and he is a short-priced pin you can confidently put in with all your snooker doubles, trebles and snooker accas this weekend.
