UK Snooker Betting Tips 2019
We were very unlucky with our first round snooker picks (both underdogs) narrowly losing 6-5 in deciding frames. Here’s hoping we get some better luck with our next UK Snooker betting tips 2019 which you can find below…
UK Snooker Championship, Plain Sailing So Far
There has been an inordinate number of whitewashes amongst the opening round of the UK Championship. There’s also been very few surprise results – Shaun Murphy succumbing to Eden Sharav being a notable exception – and a 147 break from Barry Hawkins.
Trump still heads the betting around the 9/4 mark, O’Sullivan is second best with 3/1 available while it’s been Neil Robertson that has impressed putters and bookies most, as he has made the most significant market move. You will not find better than 11/2 about the Australian anywhere.
Neil Robertson to Win the Second Quarter
There was little surprise about Neil Robertson’s 6-0 drumming of Malta’s Alex Borg where the former World Champion posted a single 100+ break. But there is no denying he has a super soft draw with the volatile Jack Lisowski the highest ranked player left in his fourth section of the draw.
Neil Robertson is 6/5 (2.20) with William Hill to win his quarter of the draw (in other words to win his next four matches or make the semi-finals) and it looks a solid proposition given Robbie Williams is his next opponent and then Lyu Haotian or Mark King.
In the fourth quarter its 10/11 (1.91) that Judd Trump will emerge as the representative in the semi-final. That’s no good thing given Mark Allen and a confident Barry Hawkins are in there pitching.
Hawkish about Barry vs McManus
But we think Barry Hawkins has been given too much credit for that 147. He only beat Gerard Greene, ranked 109 places below him, 6-2 after all and before the first round had ended there had already been over 20 125+ breaks registered in this UK Snooker competition.
Alan McManus is Hawkins rival in the second round (starts 7pm on Saturday), a match he is long odds on 2/9 (1.22) to win. That’s a suicidal price as McManus posted two 100+ breaks of his own in beating the capable Elliot Slessor 6-1 in the opening round. Whilst conceding he is an unlikely winner of this face-off, he should never be 19/5 (Unibet) and the Scotsman is a real play in the handicap market where he receives a +2.5 frame start in this race to six frames. UK Snooker odds of 6/5 (2.20) is available at BlackType.
Remaining with match handicap snooker betting, Ryan Day looks a knockout proposition (-1.5 frames) to beat Matthew Stevens. Stevens has been poor for years now and although a 6-0 victory over Chen Feilong in the opening round is pleasing it must be pointed out Ryan Day has achieved far more during the past five seasons and delivered a 127 break in the opening round.
