Free tips US Open 2022 Preview & Betting Tips (29 August – 11 September)
Daniil Medvedev capable of retaining US Open title
The US Open 2022 is scheduled to take place between Monday 29 August and Sunday 11 September at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows–Corona Park of Queens in New York City.
Last year saw Daniil Medvedev win the men’s singles title, beating Novak Djokovic, 6–4, 6–4, 6–4 in the final, while Britain’s Emma Raducanu sensationally won the women’s singles title, defeating Leylah Fernandez, 6–4, 6–3 in the final. In doing so, Raducanu became the first qualifier, male or female, to reach a major final and win a major title.
Having won a seventh Wimbledon Championship and 21st Grand Slam Singles title last month, Novak Djokovic is favourite to win what would “only” be a fourth US Open title. The Serbian legend can be backed at odds of 6/4 with 888sport.
The defending champion and current World No. 1 Daniil Medvedev is next in the betting at 5/2 with BoyleSports.
It’s worth noting that in addition to winning the US Open last year, he was a finalist in 2019 and a semi-finalist in 2020. He’s also been a finalist in the last two Australian Opens, so he’s now very much established as a player who can go all the way in the big tournaments.
Medvedev also won the Los Cabos Open in Mexico earlier this month, so can call upon recent good form.
Rafael Nadal is an 11/2 chance with BoyleSports. The 36-year-old Spaniard has a record 22 Grand Slam titles to his name, including the Australian and French Open titles earlier in 2022.
Next up is Spanish teenager Carlos Alcaraz, who is 6/1 with BetFred to secure a first Grand Slam title at Flushing Meadows. Alcaraz was a quarter-finalist at the US Open a year ago and also reached the last eight of the French Open this year. He’s also already won five ATP Tour singles titles in his short career to date.
Nick Kyrgios reached his first Grand Slam final when losing to Djokovic at Wimbledon this year and followed that up by winning the Washington Open earlier this month. Love him or hate him, the controversial Australian has to be seen as a genuine contender at 8/1 with BoyleSports.
At the time of writing, Stefanos Tsitsipas is due to play Borna Ćorić in the final of the Cincinnati Masters. Win or lose, that’s good form to be taking into the US Open and the Greek player could represent a decent each-way punt at 14/1 with Betfair, although he’s never been beyond the 3rd round in the tournament previously.
Other potential contenders include Jannik Sinner at 14/1 with BoyleSports, the promising Canadian Felix Auger Aliassime at 25/1 with BetFred, Taylor Fritz at 25/1 with BetFred and Matteo Berrettini is a 33/1 shot with BoyleSports.
On offer at big odds are Alexander Zverev at 40/1 with BetFred and Britain’s Cameron Norrie at 50/1 with Betway. Zverev’s current US Open betting odds are based on him having undergone surgery to repair the torn ligaments in his ankle from his French Open semi-final earlier in the year, so are perhaps understandable.
Cameron Norrie has been in great form of late, with a semi-final place at Wimbledon, followed by finishing as runner-up to Medvedev at the Los Cabos Open and a semi-final spot at the Cincinnati Masters.
Cam Norrie plays at the US Open next, where he should be a top 8 seed (assuming Zverev and/or Djokovic aren’t playing).

Women’s US Open Predictions
In the Women’s event, Polish World No. 1 Iga Swiatek is very much the player to beat. The 21-year-old’s form has dipped of late, but she had a 37-match winning streak earlier in the year, which including winning the French Open. She can be backed at odds of 4/1 with BetFred.
Simona Halep is 7/1 with William Hill and has been a consistent performer down the years. However, she does have just two Grand Slam titles to her name and hasn’t reached a final since 2019. On the plus side, she did recently claim the Canadian Open title.
Other leading contenders in the women’s draw are Elena Rybakina at 14/1 with 888sport, Cori Gauff at 14/1 with Betway, Aryna Sabalenka at 18/1 with BoyleSports and defending champion Emma Raducanu at 20/1 with BoyleSports. Raducanu had done little to justify putting any faith in her for a successful defence of her title until the past month when, after reaching the last eight at the Washington Open, she beat former world No. 1 players Serena Williams and Victoria Azarenka at the Cincinnati Open.
Also available at odds of 20/1 with BoyleSports is Naomi Osaka, winner of the US Open title in 2018 and 2020, in addition to two Australian Open titles. Osaka unquestionably has the ability to add a further US Open title, but has struggled to compete since withdrawing from the 2021 French Open as a result of trying to deal with her mental health and well-being. As such, she looks too risky to back at present.
For those seeking decent odds, France’s Caroline Garcia could be worth consideration at 33/1 with 888sport. The 28-year-old has never been beyond the 3rd round at the US Open or the quarter-final stage at any Grand Slam event. However, Garcia is scheduled to meet Petra Kvitová in the final of the Cincinnati Open this weekend, won the Bad Homburg Open in June and the Poland Open in July. She was also a semi-finalist at the Swiss Open last month. That form suggests she could go a long way at Flushing Meadows.
