Free tips Betfinder Weekend Football Preview – 09 to 10 January 2021

It’s another weekend of superb football action across the UK and the major European leagues, with the FA Cup taking pride of place.
FA Cup
The FA Cup 3rd round is always hugely popular, bringing as it does the prospect of David v Goliath clashes. This season has provided more than it’s fair share of such games.
Some of the potential giant-killing ties include…
- Boreham Wood at 6/1 with Betfair to beat Millwall (1/2 with bet365*),
- Chorley at 8/5 with BetVictor to beat Derby County at 6/4 William Hill
- Morecambe can be backed at 50/1 with Betfair to win at Chelsea (1/16 with bet365*)
- Crawley are 17/2 with BoyleSports to beat Leeds United (7/20 with 888sport)
- and Stockport County are 8/1 at William Hill to beat West Ham United (4/11 at 888sport).
In terms of shock results though, nothing would surpass Marine from the Northern Premier League Division One North West at 80/1 with Betfair beating Tottenham Hotspur 1/33 with Betfair.
The cup is a great leveller, it’s 11 v 11 once they’re on the pitch, etc, etc, but this isn’t going to end in disaster for Tottenham (unfortunately from a neutral’s viewpoint). The gulf in quality is just too big and a humiliating loss to a team of part-timers from the eighth tier of English football just isn’t going to appear on Jose Mourinho’s CV.
Perhaps the best shout at a ‘cupset’ is League Two high-flyers Newport County to beat Brighton & Hove Albion at 6/1 with William Hill.
Whether it would qualify as a shock result is open to debate, but League One Bristol Rovers must be fancying their chances against hapless Sheffield United. The Pirates can be backed at odds of 7/2 with Betfair.
League One
Ipswich Town can boost their promotion ambitions with a victory at Portman Road against relegation candidates and seriously out-of-form Swindon Town at odds of 9/10 with Betfair.
League Two
Table-topping Carlisle United are pushing for automatic promotion in League Two and they will expect to see off visiting Leyton Orient at 4/5 with 888sport.
Scottish Premiership
Rangers’ victory in the Old Firm clash against Celtic last week gives them what looks to be an almost insurmountable lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership, so they might be prepared to settle for a point at Aberdeen, The draw can be backed at 15/4 with bet365*.
Celtic can at least retain their grip on second place when they entertain an Hibernian team that have hit a slump in form of late. Neil Lennon’s men are 4/11 with bet365*.
La Liga
Atletico Madrid may have exited the Copa del Rey at third tier Cornella in the week, but they can maintain their lead at the top of La Liga with victory at home to Athletic Bilbao at 8/15 with Betway.
Real Madrid will be looking to take advantage of any slip-up by their city rivals with a win at Osasuna at odds of 1/2 with William Hill.
Barcelona are now up to third in the table and beginning to find a little form. They have a potentially tough trip to Granada, but can prevail at 9/20 with Betway.
Bundesliga
The big game of the weekend in the Bundesliga sees RB Leipzig host Borussia Dortmund.
The visitors have struggled for consistency of late and that’s enough to make Leipzig the selection for the win at 7/5 with 888sport.
Serie A
AC Milan (simply Milan if you prefer of course) lost their first Serie A match of the season when going down 3-1 at home to Juventus last time out, but they should return to winning ways at home to Torino at 4/6 with Betfair.
Parma have been in free-fall down the table of late and are now winless in seven matches. Lazio will look to add to their woes with a win on the road at 13/20 with 888sport.
Fiorentina are slowly improving after a poor start to the campaign and can secure three points at home to Cagliari at 4/5 with William Hill.
Juventus should follow up that vital win away to AC Milan with another three points at home to Sassuolo at 4/11 with bet365*.
Ligue 1
Ligue 1 leaders Lyon face a decidedly tough trip to fourth in the table Rennes, where a draw could prove to be the best option from a betting perspective at 5/2 with Betfair.
Paris Saint-Germain and Lille will both be looking to take advantage of any dropped points by the table-toppers, with PSG just 2/11 with BoyleSports at home to Brest and Lille at 9/20 with Betway away to lowly Nimes.
There looks to be some value in backing Bordeaux at 11/10 with William Hill at home to struggling Lorient too.
